This Sunday we begin our series
In the Beginning...
by considering the very beginning of our sacred texts: Genesis 1:1-2:4. What does the creation story teach us about God, about ourselves, and about our relationships with God and one another? How does this story relate to your experiences with beginnings or with creativity? After worship, join Amy Starr Redwine for a sermon talk-back and share your thoughts!
Amy Starr Redwine's sermon is titled, "Beginning with God." The second scripture is John 1:1-3. Our Lay Worship Leader is Joan Drushel.

Following the Time for Young Disciples, all children age kindergarten through 7th grade are invited to Sunday School. You may meet your children in the Reception Room following worship. The Dwellers (4th-7th grade) will meet in The Living Room from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm.

Summer Sermon Series with Sermon Talk-Back
 In the beginning...
This summer in worship we will be hearing stories from the book of Genesis. From creation to the extraordinary lives of the forefathers and foremothers of our faith tradition, these stories not only reveal to us who God is, but who we are as God's children, called to faithfully serve God and one another even as we care for the world around us. After worship, the preaching pastor will be in Christ Chapel for sermon talk-backs, casual conversations about the sermon -- comments, questions, and disagreements welcome!

Akeya Clark (Marie Jones' niece), Rich Day (friend of Bill Braun and Cathy Luck), Gretchen Drushel (studying in Seoul, South Korea), Nikki Elliott-Goins, Shirley Homer (Mildred Russin's cousin), Stephanie Johnson, Karen and Les Knowlton, Catherine Reynolds (friend of Jules Tryk), Erika and Norbert Roehl (friends of Arnie and Susan Dahm), and Nathan Roth (friend of Matthew Garrett and Michael Peters). We pray for Covenant members and friends who are struggling with illness, convalescing, or are homebound; the patients, family, and staff in our surrounding hospitals; and those who have placed prayer requests in our Carpenter's Box.
Our prayers
are with Pat Owen-Keltner and her family on the death of her aunt, Ann McDaniel, on May 21 in Texas.

will be in Israel May 24-June 12 as part of a cross-cultural immersion program, coursework for his Masters of Divinity. Willie Parker is on vacation June 11-17.

Praying for those Impacted by Gun Violence
Since a gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012, killing 26 people, 20 of them children; 780 people in Cuyahoga County have been killed by guns. Since last month, 16 more individuals have died by gun violence in Cuyahoga County; 6 of those who died were by suicide.
Believing God calls us to be peacemakers, once each month we pray specifically for people affected by gun violence and address the evil of gun violence in our nation, marked by the tolling of the tower bell. Join us in this time of increased concern over deadly gun violence in our county, our country, and the world, in remembering and praying that God will show us the way to a new commitment to Peace on Earth.

Presbyterians participating in Cleveland LGBT Pride Weekend
Friday June 23 and Saturday 24
Join area Presbyterians in showing support and celebrating LGBT Pride with two events during Cleveland Pride weekend.
Friday, June 23 at 7:00 pm, Fairmount Presbyterian Church will hold a screening of Out of Order, a feature length documentary following the journey of three LGBT members of the Presbyterian Church (USA) seeking ordination. Saturday, area Presbyterians will join in the Pride March to Voinovich Park. T-shirts for the march are available from the Church office at either Fairmount or Church of the Covenant; cost of each shirt is $10. Sign up in the Church office. DESSERTS FOR TRANSPLANT HOUSE
Sign up in the Church Office to bring a dessert or donate for ice cream
Over the summer we would like to provide a dessert for 8 to 10 residents at Transplant House of Cleveland, just up the hill on 115th Street. You may sign up in the church office to bring your dessert on a specific Sunday or you can also donate to help pay for Mitchell's ice cream. Transplant House provides temporary, affordable housing for organ transplant patients and their families while they are visiting Cleveland for medical care. LORI ANTHONY RIDES IN AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY'S PAN OHIO HOPE RIDE
CLEVELAND TO CINCINNATI | JULY 27-30
Lori is riding 328+ miles from Hope Lodge on Mayfield Road to Hope Lodge in Cincinnati to raise money to support those who are challenged by cancer and research to fight this disease. Lori is the daughter of Covenant member Orene Anthony.
