Governor Larry Hogan was named the new chair of the Chesapeake Council this week, and during that interstate meeting he added his voice to the many concerned with proposals to eliminate federal funding for the Chesapeake Bay Program. At the event, the Governor was also pressured on the potential for Maryland to join other state and local governments in committing to climate goals consistent with the Paris accords, but has yet to make such a commitment. The Chesapeake Bay continues to center not only the geography and culture of Maryland... but often its politics as well.
