A Second Week Just As Exciting

Just knocked down our second week of Summer School 2017! We had a great 5 days of weather, swimming, and fun with friends. This week our third graders got the chance to start on their STEM projects where they were able to build their own simple pinball game complete with flippers and plungers, bumpers and traps. Meanwhile, our kindergarteners were able to participate in an exciting program where they were able to learn about nutrition. We truly hope each and every student enjoyed this week as much as our staff! We are looking forward to getting our community service projects rolling in the weeks to come.

Oak Campus Busy Making A Difference

We have made it through week two of education fun in the sun. This week at the Oak Campus the students have been engaged in many fun activities. The students have been busy with community projects such as Highland cemetery clean-up, Harvesters, Spay and Neuter KC, and making beds out of grocery bags for the homeless. Students have also enjoyed making rockets, cooking different dishes, and learning about WWI. The staff and students are having a blast finishing out week two of summer school.

One thing to note:  The construction barriers are now up. Please do not park or drop off your children near the parking lot exit. Please drop off your children on 69th street heading East.

If your child would like to replicate the recipes tried in the cooking class at home, click here for the list (newest ones are at the bottom). If you want to send in a recipe for our "cookbook", please email mhynes@academielafayette.org.

Bon weekend!

Searching For Grandparentsgrandparents2

Each year we reach out to grandparents and special family members/friends -- the aunties, uncles, grandmas, papas, neighbors or family friends that are important to our students. You know who they are! In November, we have an event just for them called Generations Day where they are invited to visit our campuses and see their special child's classroom. We also send them the summer school newsletter so that they can see what goes on at AL in the summer -- and perhaps catch a glimpse of their child. If you think those special friends or family members would like to be included, please share their information here

Share Your Business On A T-shirtbusiness

The Académie Lafayette $10,000 Cash Raffle is just around the corner. Not only does this event raise money for our school - $80,000 just last year -- but it also provides businesses an opportunity to advertise their services to our families. Then, in May, the Musketeer March comes around. Again, another opportunity. If you would like to be a T-shirt sponsor for one or both events contact Sarah Guthrie at sguthrie@academielafayette.org. Thanks for your support!

Needed: Plastic Grocery Bagsplasticbags

This summer we will be doing several projects that help our community. For one of the projects we will making beds out of plastic grocery bags for those in need. Please donate any extra plastic grocery bags you have to either Oak or Cherry campus. It takes 1,000s of bags for each bed, so the more the better!

You can bring bags starting next Tuesday. Collection bins will be available at both campus.
