GO BULLDOGS!
Basketball Update!!
The little lady Bulldogs put on an extraordinary show on 2/15 at the Stamford home of the Bicultural Day School Bobcats.
The final score of 26-10 was no indication of how well the young ladies played. Holding the Bobcats scoreless in the first half!!!!

Caera Cope had a breakout game scoring the games first 6 points.

Lauren Smith and Norah McNicholls were solid as usual each scoring 4 points and collecting too many rebounds to count.

Sophia Lasky was sharp at the point adding a bucket and dishing out 4 assists.

Charlotte McGinness (2points) and Janie Dyer frustrated the Bobcats all day long with tenacious skyscraper defense.

Team MVP Maddy DeRosa continued her INCREDIBLE season adding 8 points and controlling the tempo from the opening tip.

The win moved the Girls to 5-2 on the season which concludes on 2/26.

Go Bulldogs!!!!!

Those who won our independence believed
liberty to be the secret of happiness and courage  to be the secret of liberty.
~Louis D. Brandeis

Dear Parents,

It's been a busy week at St. Aloysius School. We are all ready for the long awaited President's Day Winter Recess.

Today, we started the Stations of the Cross. The students began their mini pilgrimage beginning with His condemnation and commemorating Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man.

On Tuesday the parents enjoyed a Pancake Dinner on the eve of Ash Wednesday. It was a well-attended family gathering before Lent. Activities were planned to help the children prepare them for this holy season.

All the children attended Mass on Ash Wednesday. Ashes were distributed at that time. Father Cyrus spoke to the children about practicing good works all through the year as well as during the weeks leading up to Easter Sunday.

The eighth grade had fun sharing special foods prepared for International Food Day. This day gave us the opportunity to explore different cultures and taste food from many different countries.

This week we kicked off our Read to Feed Program. This program encourages parents to sponsor their children's reading efforts through donations to Heifer International. These donations will help solve the problems of hunger by providing livestock and education to families in need. The children can experience the satisfaction of using their reading efforts to be part of the solution of international poverty.

We hope that you enjoy a safe and happy Presidents Day winter recess! Our next newsletter will be published on Friday March 2nd.

God Bless You!
Mr. Bardhyl Gjoka

Eighth Grade News

The 8th Grade Social Studies class celebrated our nation's immigrant past with an International Food Day. Students made recipes hailing from their country of origin to share with classmates as an enriching activity in their Immigration Unit. Recipes are being compiled into a cookbook to commemorate the day and serves as a special 8th grade memory.

Students sampled delicious dishes from Cuba, Poland, Ireland, Italy, Russia, Armenia, Bulgaria, Scotland, England and Germany to name a few!

The Immigration Unit will culminate with students conducting research on a specific immigrant group to create an Immigration Portfolio. This project presents a selection of writings from the viewpoint of a newly arrived immigrant going through the process of immigration and assimilation as well as the Ellis Island experience.
