Dear Parents,

As I write to you today we are unfortunately dealing with another school tragedy in our country. This morning I attended the Middletown Public School safety meeting as I do every month. I would like you to know that Middletown is very proactive when it comes to school safety and thankfully they include the private schools as well. This morning the Middletown Police Department had a police presence at all the Middletown schools including ours. At St. John Paul II we continue to work with the Middletown Police Department to conduct our safety drills. Due to my military career I am constantly vigilant, and I work closely with the school staff on all aspects of school safety. I will be working with the public schools and the Emergency Management office with their future tabletop drill that will test our safety plans in various scenarios. I want to ensure you that the safety of your children is my number one priority.

This week we began the season of Lent. We received ashes on Wednesday at a prayer service with Fr. Rick and attended Stations of the Cross today as we will every Friday during lent. Stations is held at 10am every Friday during Lent and all are welcome to attend.

I hope that you all enjoy our long President's Day weekend.

May God continue to bless you and your families.
