Lunch Bunch rescheduled to Wednesday, February 21.

Scouting Duty to God Program - Several Cub Scouts in the congregation are embarking on the long-form Boy Scouts of American Duty to God achievement program. Father David will help guide these scouts and their parents through the P.R.A.Y. program, a Bible-based religious emblems program for Protestant and Independent Christian churches designed to bring children, youth, and families to Christ. We are kicking off the program Sunday Feb. 11 and plan to finish April 15. P.R.A.Y. offers four program courses divided into age group levels from grades 1-12; it is a BSA-approved program, but is not specifically targeted to scouting or the Episcopal Church. If you have a Cub Scout that would like to join us, or want to learn more about the program for your Cub or Boy Scout, contact John Rees or Father David. There is also a comparable program for Girl Scouts and if Girl Scouts are interested see Father David as well.

Laptops Needed for Refugee Outreach Program: The Circle Fellowship Church at Riderwood has been collaborating with Christ the King Episcopal Church in Howard County.  Their rector is Mary Elliot, daughter of John and Sylvia Elliot, former members of Good Shepherd.  Rev. Mary has a strong program of outreach to the large refugee and immigrant population around their church.  One of the things the church is developing is a safe computer room where people can search the web for information and jobs.  Judy Brown is the point person for gathering used lap tops for this program.  The computer club at Riderwood has agreed to inspect donated computers and determine if they would be useful for this program.  If the lap tops are not useful, the Riderwood Computer club has connection with a local non-profit group that harvests old laptops for parts and assembles useful computers for needy students.  If you have a laptop you would like to donate to this cause, please contact Judy Brown, [email protected] or 301-755-5999 and she will arrange to collect computers and get them into this program.

Please be sure to update information in the Good Shepherd Parish Directory--change of address, telephone number(s), e-mail address, etc.

Greeting card donations needed: the birthday ministry is in need of birthday and anniversary cards to send to parishioners. If you have unused birthday cards please leave them in the copier room. Thank you!

Saint Luke Food Pantry  - Temperatures seem to go up and down, but the need for food support is constant for many in our community.  Saint Luke Food Pantry is an essential resource for those among us who are referred there by local social services agencies.  Many Saint Luke Lutheran Church volunteers make this possible.  We at Good Shepherd are considered an important part of this outreach through our faithful contribution of staples and fresh fruit.  It is easy to throw a few additional items into your shopping cart and bring them to church on Sunday.  Follow sales and clip coupons to enhance your shopping experience for others.  This is who we are at Good Shepherd.
