Dreaming of Spring? Register Now to be a Vendor at The Hooley on Kamm's Corners™

Winter may still be upon us, but on Saturday, May 12, Lorain Avenue will be filled with 30,000 people visiting 100 booths at The Hooley on Kamm's Corners™! Be part of the fun and showcase your business or organization to West Park and surrounding communities from noon to 8 p.m. that day.

There are five ways to participate:

  • Arts/Crafts/Gifts Vendor
  • Family area Vendor
  • Non-profit Vendor
It's a day of live music, festival food, entertainment, and activities for all ages, presented by Kamm's Corners Development Corporation with presenting sponsor Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital. For all the registration details, click here.   
 
Join a Workshop on Health, Community, and Climate Action on Wednesday, March 14 
 
One of a series of ten neighborhood workshops will take place here in Kamm's Corners on Wednesday, March 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the West Park Historical Society, 17401 Lorain Avenue. Parking is free, and the event is on the first floor of the KCDC Building with easy access. Similar meetings will take place at various times and locations throughout the city to connect health, community, and quality of life to climate action. Join your neighbors to develop ideas and connect them with resources for action. Learn how to fund project ideas and earn up to $5,000 in support per neighborhood project through the Cleveland Climate Action Fund. All the workshops are free! See details here.   
  
Citizen Police Academy Starts April 4

Tools used to gather evidence at a crime scene.
sponsored by the Cleveland Division of Police. It is a Citizen Police Academy beginning Wednesday, April 4, and meeting weekly from 6 to 9 p.m. Gain insights into the nature of police work in a group setting. Don't delay! Class size is limited to 25.  
 
Officer Tim Riley will conduct the classes in our Community Room on the second floor of 17407 Lorain Avenue for five consecutive Wednesdays beginning April 4. The final two classes will be off site. Successful completion of the course makes participants eligible for a police ride-along to witness police work in action. Apply by calling Officer Riley at 216-623-3335. New Cold Weather Gear Offered to Those in Need  
 
West Park United Church of Christ, 3909 Rocky River Drive, offers mittens, scarves, and hats for anyone who is in need of cold weather gear during these blustery winter months. Simply take what is needed from the clothesline that runs between the church buildings. The items have been knitted, crocheted, and purchased by members of the congregation. Call 216-671-7228 for more information or email [email protected]. The church also offers a hot community meal on the last Sunday of every month from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for all. 

Cleveland Star Trek Day Takes Place February 27

Join the fun at P.J. McIntyre's Irish Pub ,17119 Lorain Avenue, in support of the charitable community service missions carried out by crew of the International Federation of Trekkers Cleveland Chapter Starship, USS Challenger. From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. stop in any time to enjoy a fine meal and beverage. Present the flyer here to your server, and 20% of your tab will be donated towards the good work done by the club. For more than a decade, this service club has raised tens of thousands of dollars toward community service missions listed on the flyer. Enjoy a 50/50 raffle where the winner need not be present. Annual Spring for Hope for the Rocky River Autism Center on Thursday, April 12, at 6 p.m. They are looking for sponsors and attendees at the event. Volunteers are needed for the Gunning Rose Center Senior Market on the first Tuesday of each month inside Gunning Recreation Center at 16700 Puritas Avenue. This monthly market provides bags of healthy food for registered seniors in need. See this flyer for details.

KCDC is an official CIFF42 EMBRACE CURIOSITY neighborhood outreach partner to help spread the word about the Cleveland International Film Festival season. Look for voucher giveaways via our Facebook and Twitter posts starting in late March. The festival runs from April 4 through April 15.
