ITBS Testing
Next week, your student will take the Iowa Assessments™. We hope that with your support and encouragement, your student will do his or her best on the tests. You can help your student do his or her best by considering these tips:
  • Make sure your student gets a good night's sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before each day of testing.
  • Make sure that your student is in school and on time on test days. Reschedule dentist appointments and other out-of-school time to non-testing days.
  • Remind your student that these tests are only one measure of what he or she has learned. Emphasize that you have confidence in his or her ability to do the best job possible.
  • Remind your student to listen to the directions and read each question carefully during testing. Encourage your student to ask the teacher for help if he or she does not understand the directions.
  • Be positive and don't fret. You student will likely have some nervousness about the tests, but please be sure to encourage positivity and a "can do" attitude.

Thank You For Your Generosity!
We collected $607 for the Deputy Parrish family during our chapel offerings in January. The Sweet Dreams in a Bag offering collected at the Christmas program you donated $869. We received the following from Sweet Dreams:
" Dear Shepherd, what a surprise blessing your generous gift to Sweet Dreams is! About 14 children will get their own, new comfy, warm bedding! Know that each of those children will snuggle into the bedding you all provided for years to come! What a true gift of love!" In Christ's love, Susie and Wayne.
Jack's Corner
In the aftermath of the Florida school shootings, we parents are left with a multiplicity of feelings: anger at how helpless we might truly be in protecting our kids, fierce determination to protect them, fear that somehow this kind of evil might touch our kids directly, sacrificial love for our kids (that comes about as close as it gets to God's love), and frustration with a problem...
