Adult Lenten Study at OPC - 2018

Lent has traditionally been a time for contemplation and study. This year at OPC will be no different!

Two study groups will be offered. Feel free to join one or both groups, and attend as you are able. It is ok to miss sessions, and please attend even if you haven't been able to keep up with the readings . Also feel free to bring a friend...OPC membership is not required!

Books are available in the church office, 523-6364, [email protected] . If you are able to pay the cost of $10 per book, it will help defray the church's expense and would be gratefully accepted. OPC bought books at a discounted rate and is unable to return them so we are hoping to sell all that we have.

Nominations are due by March 1 for the Honored Woman Award!  Each year the Oxford Presbyterian Women present this award to a special woman who has dedicated her time and talent to the work of the church.  The selection is made through nominations from the congregation.  If you have seen or worked beside a woman who has faithfully served the Lord and His church, please send a letter of nomination to Pat Gifford, at
[email protected] , drop in my mailbox at church, or send to 6511 Morning Sun Rd., Oxford, 45056.  A new letter of nomination is needed each year, even if a woman has been nominated previously.  We are so grateful for the continued service of our Past Honored Women; however, the award is only given once to an individual. Creating a Healthy Oxford Community
The Oxford Chapter of Habitat for Humanity builds housing for low income families in Oxford that otherwise would not be able to afford a home. The Mission and Outreach Committee is requesting the congregation's help in meeting the Oxford Presbyterian Church's pledge to fund the two homes that the Oxford Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is building in 2018.  Please write a check made out to the Oxford Presbyterian Church, put Habitat in the note-field, and place in the offering plate.  If you prefer to donate cash, place the cash in a Pew Envelope, write Habitat on the Pew Envelope, and place in the offering plate.  Thank you for your generosity.

A Journey to Colombia
The Colombia Partnership Network of the Presbytery of the Miami Valley (PMV) requests your prayers and blessings for their current journey to our partner Presbytery of the North Coast (PNC) in Barranquilla, Colombia from February 15 to 21.

This partnership has spanned 23 years and includes annual visits by Colombian young adults who participate in our Presbytery's, Sister Churches', and Kirkmont Center's summer ministries; shared worship, spiritual, and musical events; northbound and southbound delegation trips between Sister Church congregations; and mutual support of each presbytery's pastoral and social justice ministries.

We currently have five Sister Church relationships between congregations of the PMV and congregations of the PNC.  One of these Sister Church relationships is the strong partnership between Oxford Presbyterian Church and the Seventh Presbyterian Church of Barranquilla, Colombia.  Our Network intends to renew our partnership agreement during this trip and explore new avenues of shared ministry.
Your Stewardship Matters
One of the dangers of having a lot of money is that you may be quite satisfied with the kinds of happiness money can give and so fail to realize your need for God.
If everything seems to come simply by signing checks,
you may forget that you are at every moment totally dependent on God.
