Median Across from Terminal B/C
Overnight Lane Closures Along Roadway;
Use Caution in Work Zone
Summary of Impacts
  • Beginning Monday, February 19, lanes will close from Midnight to 9 a.m. along the Arrivals (lower-level) roadway. Impacts to traffic are expected to be minimal.
  • Passengers using the median for pick-up should follow construction signs and remain clear of work-zone barricades.

Project Benefits

  • Police will direct traffic as needed through the slip-ramps to manage congestion.

Details
  • From February 19 through mid-March, construction crews will construct three new slip-ramps through the passenger pick-up median across from the Arrivals (lower-level) doors of Terminal B/C during overnight hours.
  • From Midnight to 9 a.m., lanes will be closed to accommodate work crews. Minimal traffic impacts are expected.
  • No daytime traffic impacts are expected; lanes will be open to traffic from 9 a.m. to Midnight.

  • Passengers crossing to the median for pick-up should take note of their location for reference when exiting the terminal. Use airline signs.
  • The speed limit in the work zone is 15 miles per hour.

Timing
  • Begins Monday, February 19. Expected to continue until mid-March.
  • Construction will begin each night after Midnight and end by 9 a.m.
About Project Journey

When Project Journey is completed in 2021, two new 50,000-square-foot buildings with security checkpoints will replace three smaller checkpoints currently serving Terminal B/C – increasing the post-security space to include all of National Hall and its premier shops and restaurants for ticketed travelers. In addition, a new 14-gate concourse will replace Gate 35X – ending the need for travelers to ride buses to board regional jets parked outside. Concourse amenities will include jetbridges, holdrooms, concessions and an American Airlines Admirals Club lounge.
