We hope to see you Sunday!
1st Sunday in Lent

On Ash Wednesday the church began its journey toward baptismal immersion in the death and resurrection of Christ. This year, the Sundays in Lent lead us to focus on five covenants God makes in the Hebrew Scriptures and to use them as lenses through which to view baptism. First Peter connects the way God saved Noah's family in the flood with the way God saves us through the water of baptism. The baptismal covenant is made with us individually, but the new life we are given in baptism is for the sake of the whole world.

It was once said,
"If you do not change direction,
you may end up where you are heading."

The season of Lent is a perfect time to make sure your path matches God's direction. For more information about our Midweek Lenten series as well as our Soup Suppers, click here.
Lenten Discipleship
We are Christians on a mission, even in the season of Lent. But how do we go about being God's people at home and in the world?

The short, daily devotions in this booklet highlight the concepts of being sent, demonstrating faith in action, and being mission-minded each day of Lent. Suggested activities are associated with preparing our hearts, souls and minds to reflect on the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ and his mission for us.

Pick up your FREE copy of this booklet the next time you are in the Narthex at church!
ELCA YOUTH GATHERING Envelope Challenge
Have you seen this in the Narthex?
At the Mardi Gras Pancake Supper Advent's youth kicked off this fundraiser and have decorated these sets of envelopes numbered from $1-$60. The challege is to take an envelope with the dollar amount of your choice and bring it back filled with that amount.

If all of these envelopes are taken and returned with the amounts, Advent's youth will raise $3660 which would put us very near to our goal for the ELCA Youth Gathering!

Please make checks payable to Advent Lutheran Church and put Envelope Challenge on the Memo line.

Thank you in advance for taking an envelope and supporting Advent's youth going to the ELCA Youth Gathering!

If you have such a request, please feel free to Email a prayer request to: prayers@adventelc.org
Join us for a time of faith and fellowship as we dive into the Bible and apply its teachings to our lives in the Adult Study. We meet each Sunday in the Fellowship Hall from 9:45am - 10:45am. All adults are welcome!

We are just beginning a series entitled: Final Words From the Cross. It is a discussion-and-video based group study that explores the seven statements that Jesus spoke from the cross and the meaning of Jesus’ dying words for our lives today. This study coincides with the six weeks of the season of Lent.

  • Session 1 (2/11): “Father, Forgive Them ”
  • Session 2 (2/18): “Today You Will Be With Me in Paradise”
  • Session 3 (2/25): “Behold Your Son...Behold Your Mother”

  • Session 5 (3/11): “I Thirst”
  • Session 6 (3/18): “It Is Finished ”. . . “Into Your Hands I Commit My Spirit”
