KATHLEEN SAVIO ON GLOBAL RISKS 2018 ANNUAL REPORT
Kathleen Savio,  CEO for Zurich North America, wrote a piece in The Hill about the   Global Risks 2018 annual report and what its results could mean for North American businesses. 

The report, recently released by the World Economic Forum, highlights an ever-evolving set of risks that threaten to upend society throughout the globe, including climate change, species' extinction, income inequality, youth unemployment, privacy, cybercrime and cracks in the financial system.

" In an increasingly interconnected world, it means that business leaders in North America - and abroad - cannot afford to ignore the perils that threaten to tear at the fabric of society, even if they seem unrelated to the business at hand. CHICAGO DEFENDER INTERVIEW WITH WBC'S CEO ANDREA ZOPP
Andrea Zopp, CEO of World Business Chicago (WBC), was featured in a  Chicago Defender article which highlighted her t ransition back to the business sector and her work to help small businesses grow.

"I'm really thrilled to be here at WBC. It's a natural transition for a number of broad roles for me personally. We're a public nonprofit where we get private money but also get TIF money from the city. The mayor serves as the chair of our board. We serve to drive economic opportunity to the city. NextLevel Health (NLH), led by CEO Dr.  Cheryl Whitaker, announced that it has transitioned from a managed care community network (MCCN) to a licensed health maintenance organization (HMO) for Medicaid eligible individuals in  Cook County. NEW STUDY SUGGESTS PERSONALIZED LEARNING CAN BE A FINANCIALLY SUSTAINABLE SCHOOL MODEL THAT PRIORITIZES TEACHERS
A new analysis released by LEAP Innovations (Phyllis Lockett) , finds that after small upfront costs, personalized learning whole-school models can be financially sustainable innovations that enable learning experiences tailored to a students' specific needs and strengths. 

"At a time when schools across the country are still grappling with limited budgets, this analysis shines light on a big question: how can we scale personalized models of instruction? In Chicago, we're finding that these innovations in teaching and learning can be self-sustaining and scalable," said Phyllis Lockett, Founder and CEO of LEAP Innovations. "This study also confirms that personalized learning isn't about spending big on technology. COMPTROLLER MENDOZA ON CHICAGO TONIGHT
Comptroller Susana Mendoza was featured on Chicago Tonight where she discussed the state's budget preview and financial forecast. 

"Taxpayers, students, school administrators, human service providers, and businesses need the stability of having a balanced and complete budget,"  Susana  Mendoza said. The Chicago Botanic Garden (Jean Franczykset a new record for attendance in 2017 with more than 1.1 million visitors.  This figure marks a 3% attendance increase over 2016, and the fifth straight year of attendance over the one million mark. 
 
"We were happy to host over one million people looking to enjoy being immersed in nature. People are voting with their feet," Garden CEO and President Jean Franczyk said. KIM FOXX AT 2018 MAKERS CONFERENCE
