Principal's Message
Dear Parents,

As we are firming up our 2018-2019 school calendar, our school leadership team is seeking input on what your preference is for the timing of the start of our school year. We have had two years of starting school two weeks before Labor Day, but traditionally, we have started one week before Labor Day. Another option would be to start the same time as District #77, which is after Labor Day.   While our administration and school board will have the final vote, your feedback is extremely important; please see the survey link below.

The other question is in regard to two-hour late starts. This year we decided to not have two-hour late starts even though District #77 kept them. We want your opinion on whether you prefer the two-hour late start or to bypass them again.

Click here  to complete the short calendar survey.

Thank you for your input on both questions.

Our timeline for approving our school calendar:
  • Staff & Parent surveys on start date and 2-hour late starts: February 16th
  • Analyze Data from two surveys: February 23rd-March 1st
  • District #77 adopts 2018-2019 & 2019-2020 calendar: Monday, March 5th
  • Loyola admin & staff calendar committee designates and confirms school year calendar to lift up to our Activities and Academics committee: March 6th-March 9th
  • Recommendation for a motion from our Activities and Academics Committee: Monday, March 12th
  • Loyola Board of Trustee Vote: Thursday, March 15th
  • Publication of 2018-2019 Loyola Calendar Friday, March 16th

Next Thursday, February 22 nd is our enrollment night. Our courses that we will be offering for the 2018-2019 school year will be available for our secondary level that evening. We will have staff available in Sohler Commons next to the Chapel to talk about our courses for next year. We anticipate the first round of registration to begin the following week!

I also invite you to meet the two new coaches for our co-ops with St. Clair next Thursday evening. That includes Brandon Greiner, softball coach and Dustin Bosshart, football coach. They will be in Sohler Commons.  Please stop by and meet our new St. Clair/Loyola Spartan Coaches!

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART- A MESSAGE FROM MR. STALOCH
We are kicking off our Jump Rope for Heart program in school on February 2.  This will included students in grades 3-5.  The American Heart Association supports your child learning about healthy nutrition and being active.  As your child participates in this program, they may wish to honor a family member or neighbor who is affected by heart disease. Your stude nt will learn that being healthy is fun and helping others is rewarding. If your family chooses to donate to this cause (optional), we hope that you will consider creating an online fundraising page through the school's Jump Rope for Heart page.  Follow these easy steps:

1. Go to www.heart.org/jump and search for Loyola Catholic School - click "Log on to fundraise" OR click this link to be taken to the page: http://www2.heart.org/goto/loyolacatholicschool
Not only are the students helping people with sick hearts, but our school will also earn gift certificates for physical education equipment.

Thank you for your support and if there are any questions please feel free to contact me,  Jacob Staloch if you have questions.

Seniors:  The Dollars for Scholars local website is now open.  Go to http://mankatoarea.dollarsforscholars.org to apply.  They give over 25 local scholarships ranging from $500-$1000.  Anyone who has at least a 2.5 GPA and over 40 hours of community service should apply as it is a lottery once the student has those 2 criteria.  There will also be two $1000 scholarships for Loyola students who attend SCC!!  In addition, there are academic scholarships.  ANY SENIOR WHO IS AT ALL INTERESTED IN SCHOLARSHIP MONEY SHOULD APPLY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP.   Important tip concerning the application:  Under "Add an Activity",  choose "volunteer work" or "volunteer church work" (it is listed alphabetically) rather than "community service" or "church/religious" to list your volunteer work.  If you have done it correctly, at the end it will ask you for your grand total # of volunteer hours.  After you put the total in, be sure to hit the "submit app" button.
