NEW YEAR'S DAY RUN
Sad to see 2014 coming to an end? KCTC has something to help ease the pain (and the hangover). Join us for our annual New Year's Day Run at the Athletic Club of Overland Park! This is a free fun run to help ring in the new year. We'll take off at 10 AM and run anywhere from 0 to 10 miles.

There will be free coffee and donuts after the run
and other breakfast options will be available for purchase per the Club's cafe. Be sure to stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for further details and reminders!

YOUTH RUNNING PROGRAMS
KCTC supports the efforts of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) to have a running program in schools across the nation, with no financial burden to the school. We recognize that many schools include track as an organized sport in secondary grades, but we want to bridge the gap between the competitive and noncompetitive student.  We believe being educated and active in the sport of running should be open to every student.  Starting this at the elementary level opens the door to students growing with the sport regardless of whether they choose to run competitively or leisurely.

The RRCA created the Kids Run the Nation ProgramIt is an ongoing, gender inclusive program, with 10 weeks of curriculum. The curriculum covers all fundamentals of running and meets the Physical Activity Guidelines set forth by the USDA. It is designed for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade, and can be modified to better serve older grades. It can be taught as classroom curriculum, a wellness program, or a before/after school program.

In viewing the program, you will notice the RRCA does charge for the student booklets.  Booklets can be provided at no cost to your program along with water coolers and other equipment and supplies, compliments of the Kansas City Track Club.  If you find this information useful and are interested in implementing it in your school, email us at [email protected]

DONATE YOUTH RUNNING GEAR
KCTC has been given an exciting opportunity to help the local youth running community within various schools and organizations. As winter rolls around, these little runners are in need of some cold weather gear. We are collecting new and gently used gloves, hats, jackets, long sleeve shirts, running pants, and running shoes of all sizes. These items are being collected mainly for elementary school and high school aged children but all donations are acceptable!
There will be bins set up outside the basement door of the KCTC Clubhouse at 208 West 79th Street, KC, MO, 64114. You can also bring the items to the Saturday group run or Wednesday Night Run or contact a board member. If this doesn't work for you, contact us at [email protected] and will will arrange whatever is necessary. Thank you for helping us be a part of this awesome opportunity!

FALL SERIES WINDING DOWN
The KCTC Fall Race Series is nearing its end. However, there are still two more events to help you earn points! Remember, all you have to do is participate in three events and KCTC will send you a package of free running stuff including a race entry! If you've already participated in one or more of the events, just email [email protected] with your results and we'll get you added to our Series Leaderboard. Remember, even volunteers get credit!
