Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue                           June 2017

Live.  Love.  Rescue

LIVE.  LOVE.  RESCUE.

Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue is a non-profit, completely volunteer-driven organization dedicated  to saving and re-homing Bulldogs with loving families.

Hundreds of Bulldogs are lost, abandoned, taken to animal shelters, or surrende red to rescue every year. Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue accepts Bulldogs whose owners can no longer keep them, and retrieves Bulldogs from shelters and undesirable situations. Our Bulldogs are placed in suitable homes as soon as reasonably possible.

Catching Up With Elvis!

My Wife and I would like to thank Lone Star Bulldog Rescue for the pleasure of giving Elvis (formerly Preston) his forever home. He is so full of love, no matter how much attention you give him, it is not enough. If he had his way he would be in your lap licking your face while you rub him with both hands all the time. He isn't shy about it either, as you can see by the photos he will wedge himself between you and whatever you are trying to do to get attention.

Elvis and his fur sister Bella love each other and both come to work at our gun shop with us daily. Elvis likes to jump up with his paws on the counter when customers walk in as if he is saying "can I help you"? What he really wants is attention from the customers. If they don't pet him soon, he will let out a bark or growl to make sure they know he is there. He has been known to grab a hand with his mouth or pull it toward him with his paw to get the message across "you will pet me, like it or not!" Since he sometimes frightens new customers who don't know him, we have signs posted to warn that "Elvis will bite, pet at your own risk." The regular customers know he doesn't bite down he just wants attention and they know when they stop petting to pull their hand back quickly because he doesn't want them to stop.

Elvis has come a long way from the skinny fellow we adopted,  but took well to potty training and going to his kennel when we tell him. He gets very excited when he hears the words "lets go to work" or "want a treat?" We have learned though that Elvis is a lover, not a fighter. He is afraid of thunder, the dark, (we leave a light on for him) and cats. It's a good thing he has little sister Bella to protect him.

We love him very much and encourage anyone thinking about adopting a dog to do so. They will bring so much love and joy to you life!

Bulldog Volunteer?  Who Me?

Remember the slap-stick skit in which the commander asks the line of recruits to step forward to volunteer?  Everybody but one hapless soul takes a step backward, and voila, the volunteer appears.

At Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue, volunteers willingly embrace a variety of roles crucial to the well-being of our precious Bulldogs.  Many would volunteer if they knew more about how they could help.  This page on our website describes some of the ways you can contribute your talents and skills.  Some can do more than others.  We welcome all kinds of volunteers with a wide variety of skills.

You may already volunteer at schools, athletic events, children grou ps, senior services, and so many more deserving pursuits.  That attribute s peaks of your character and potential to help Bulldogs who would perish without your love and devotion.

If time is in short supply, monetary support is a treasured substitute.  A small monthly contribution helps us in ways for which our Bulldogs are eternally grateful.  LSBCR volunteers are older, younger, empty nesters, live in apartments, or single family homes.  Some can foster, or transport, or help at events.  We value all of your contributions and talents.

When we adopted Gabby from LSBCR, we were so impressed by her foster family that we have stayed in frequent contact.  This foster couple had pre-school children, a Bulldog puppy, and two foster Bulldogs.  If they could do it, we decided that so could we.

Volunteer in any way you can help.  Your charitable donation will be returned in ways you may not have expected, including the spiritual enrichment of your lives.

Supporter Corner:
Meet Griselda

I LOVE Lone Star Bulldog Rescue! I've been following them for 6 years and after unexpectedly losing my furbaby, Bully, last December, we adopted our wonderful boy Bowser (Rocky) in January. I didn't feel we were ready to adopt so soon, but our other furbaby, Pudgie, was getting depressed so we knew we had to find her another brother to play with and keep her company.

Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue was so awesome and understanding through this delicate process. We feel so blessed to have Bowser in our life; he not only helped Pudgie, he also helped me and my husband so much. We're thankful Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue was there for us and Bowser. We love everything they do and stand for.

Consider Becoming a Foster Family

Our ability to rescue dogs from undesirable conditions is limited by the foster homes available. We always need more caring homes in the metroplex to help these precious dogs begin a new life. For more information on how you can get involved, visit our Volunteer page on our website.
