This Kerygma program of six sessions is  appropriate to Lent, dealing with the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, ending with the redemption of the world through faith. We will consider the theological significance of each text and then listen to how that text is beautifully enriched through the brilliance of the music.
Hearing Loop, hearing assist devices, and large print bulletins and hymnals available.

Lent: Journeying Together in Faith

Lent is a time when Christians discipline themselves to focus on methods  to examine faith and experience new depth to glorify God on Easter  Sunday.  We are pleased that again this year we will have noon soup  luncheons with members of our congregation sharing their faith stories.

We start our Lenten journey today on Ash Wednesday with  pastor Cader Howard speaking at the noon and 7 pm  services.

Beginning February 22nd:
Stories of Faith:  Thursday Soup Luncheons
Come and enjoy a soup luncheon at noon on Thursday, February 22, in the dining room. Peter Ulland will be sharing his faith story. This is the first in a series of five luncheons that will be held at noon on Thursdays during Lent.  A free will offering is collected.

Stewardship
Every Pledge Matters

The Stewardship team will be presenting to Session the results of this year's campaign for pledges. The Finance team will also be presenting an operating budget for 2018.
Both teams need your support! Your pledges guide their financial decision-making for our congregation's current and future needs.

If you have not already done so, please turn in your pledge card.
You may also contact the treasurer, Myron Reubendale, with your pledge information for 2018. Email to:   [email protected].

Every pledge matters and every gift is valued!
Thank you for support in the past and for the support you are making known by pledging for 2018. First Presbyterian has a wonderful ministry in the St. Croix Valley, supported by the members of the congregation who care for each other and are --

New Reading Group:   "The New Jim Crow"
After December's adult education around the state of mass incarceration in our country, Kelley Jepsen, pastoral intern, has decided to continue the discussion with a reading and reflection group.  Written by civil rights litigator and legal scholar, Michelle Alexander, the book "The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness" offers a heartbreaking account of how the current legal system in the United States has served as a caste system which targets and oppresses millions of African Americans.

Interested?  For those interested in signing up to be a part of the book study, please contact Kelley Jepsen at [email protected] for more information.  Thanks!

Thank You!

Dear FPC Family --   I cannot offer enough thanks to you for your concern and your prayers. The support that you are offering me is so very comforting to us as a family. My children are also appreciative of the outpouring of the care that you extending to us all.

I live in hope as the progression of the ALS has been minimal to date, other than in my speech. I am not taking this lying down, therefore I am aggressively seeking treatment immediately through Mayo clinic.

We are facing this head on, as our Mom won't let us do it any other way. That has always served us well as a family.  We all appreciate the time to plan a few weeks to be together in the early stages of her diagnosis and ongoing treatment as we continue to plan for the future.

We are so grateful for your presence in our lives being that as a family we are close in heart and spirit, yet widespread throughout the world. We are each buoyed by your support and care.

With our deepest thanks -- Cindy, Hadley, Addison, and MaryScot

One Great Hour of Sharing 2018

Lent is traditionally a season of fasting and prayer. During this time, Christians pay close attention to spiritual disciplines that deepen our understanding of what God is doing in our lives and in the world. As a church, we spend time together hearing about and praying for the ministries of compassion and justice done through our support of One Great Hour of Sharing.

A gift to One Great Hour of Sharing enables the church to share God's love with our neighbors-in-need around the world by providing relief to those affected by natural disasters, provide food to the hungry, and helping to empower the poor and oppressed. This offering supports the Pastor's Emergency Fund, used to help those in our community in need of emergency support.

Our offering will be collected on Easter Sunday, April 1st. You may give to this offering at any time. Please include "OGHS" in the memo line of your check.
GiveOnline Giving: Support First Presbyterian

You can honor God with your offering and give directly from your  computer, tablet or smart-phone for a one-time gift or set up a schedule of automated/recurring gifts. Pay directly from a  checking account or credit/debit card.  Click Here to give your gift today.
