            "After the Election" gathering
.

This Sunday, June 18 from 12-1pm in the Gallery, Rev. Russ will facilitate a follow-up session to check in and see how we're doing both as individuals and as a Fellowship from our "After the Election" gathering.  That was our commitment from that session. Take a look at the notes from our January conversation, give this some thought and let's talk about where this arc of involvement, activism and concern should take us.

Why? The past 5 months have been tumultuous and challenging. Last January we met right after the Inauguration and shared our feelings, worries, concerns and sense of hopelessness. Rev. Russ facilitated the session and captured your thoughts and perspectives. One outcome was a desire to have the subsequent Adult RE sessions focus on issues and strategies dealing with 'after the election' concerns. We learned resistance tactics; we wrote post cards advocating for science truth and mailed them to government officials; we heard from COPA leaders as they touched on local social justice issues and spoke of community organizing for all of us;  and we also met with Sanctuary leaders who shared strategies and updates on the local situation for our undocumented neighbors. Let's come together, check in, and decide what's next.

TGIF Hosts Needed

Hosts are needed for our Summertime TGIF's!
The "Thank Goodness It's Friday" POTLUCK social gatherings are a way of deepening our
UU Community. All are welcome to come, even if they cannot always bring a dish to share. The hosts put out a basket for donations to help defray costs.
Hosting involves opening your home (or the Fellowship) from 5-7 PM, on Friday evening,  having wine, soda and water, plates, cups and napkins. The Community brings the rest!
Please call Jan Taylor at 332-4489, to host (or co-host) one of our Community's well-loved TGIF's.

Book Group

Thank You For Being Late by Thomas Friedman.   Next meeting June 29 at 10A.M. at The Farm Restaurant at  6790 Soquel Dr, Aptos.
After much debate, the Bookies have decided that Thank You for Being Late by Thomas Friedman deserves a few discussions.
We had planned to take a summer break, but we don't want to wait too long to talk about Thank You.
We have decided to have three meetings, so we can take it in small doses.  Our plan is to meet  Thurs, June 29, July 20, and August 17th.
Let's come prepared to talk about Chapter 1 thru Chapter 5 for June.  Then Chapter 6 thru Chapter 10 for July,  and finish  it up in August.
Please join us for coffee, tea, and lots of good discussion.  Questions - call Linda Monk 724-4089
