TONIGHT...7:00PM

Come and begin your journey, your pilgrimage of
Listening... Reflecting... Responding...

Come.
On Our Way Toward Lent

Lent is around the corner, when we more intentionally ponder who we are as children of God and where we are on our life-journey as disciples of Christ. This Lent, as a congregation, we'll encounter deep, personal listening for God through our worship. Through the week, we'll walk with Christ in active discipleship.  For discipleship suggestions and a fun way to mark your journey with Jesus, check out the journey-board that will be in the Gathering Area. This Lent, let's walk together prayerfully as Epiphany disciples.
Listening and Responding On Our Way begins tonight with Ash Wednesday, February 14.

You're invited to help...
... help get our Listening and Responding journey off on the right foot.  On Wednesdays, February 21 and 28 at 6:30, we'll prepare materials for our journey: footprints for our journey-board and watercolor prayer books for our worship.  No art skills needed.  Bring a simple finger food to share and we'll eat and greet and make some feet.  It'll be a treat.  All ages are encouraged to participate. We will meet in the Community Room.  Watch for details for the remaining On Our Way Wednesdays with more fun and rewarding listening.
Lent 1
Sunday, February 18, 2018

During the Season of Lent, there will be two opportunities of worship and responding during our Sunday morning worship times.

Our 8:00 worship will use the traditional Lutheran Holy Communion Lenten liturgy based upon the Revised Common Lectionary Scripture readings for the year.

For our 10:30 service, we will be worshiping with a contemplative format of silence, focusing on specific weekly themes related to "Listening and Finding," divine reading of specially appointed Scripture (lectio divina) each week, reflection time using "prayer stations," around the celebration of Holy Communion.

8:00 am - Service of Holy Communion using Traditional Lutheran
Lenten Liturgy and Hymns
Genesis 9:8-17; Psalm 25:1-10; 1 Peter 3:18-22; Mark 1:9-15 (The Baptism and Temptation of Jesus)

10:30 am - Finding Your Cave: Listening Spaces
Psalm 5:3-7;  1 Kings 19:11-12

Sometimes we just need to get away in order to hear from that "still small voice" within. This quiet voice is an attribute of the Holy Living God, as Elijah found out in a cave where he expected to experience God in big wind and earthquake and fire. What is your "cave" equivalent?  What place (a park, a path, a rocking chair, a shoreline) and practice (walking, journaling, reading, making art) helps you get quiet enough for long enough so you can hear past the chaos and into the depths of your life?
