Community Connections: Tiny Cottages Opening Mission Opportunities
Every opportunity to serve someone is Kingdom business. Every time a follower of Jesus blesses or serves another person we share light in a dark world. This is why Ekklesia people have plunged head long into a project to help the homeless. It is a biblical teaching that worship of God is linked to how we bless those less fortunate. Our community is highly energized by the idea of building tiny houses for the homeless. Every time Tim posts information on the Port Orchard Facebook page about the tiny house project, hundreds of people respond with interest. We are engaging people who have no church connections and are interested in partnering with this project.

Over the last few days and weeks we have received commitments from several churches, service clubs and organizations to partner with us and build tiny cottages for the new village. Here are the organizations that have committed assistance.

Ekklesia Church- 3 cottages
First Lutheran Church- 2 cottages
United Methodist Church- 1 cottage
Grace Bible Church- 2 cottages
South Kitsap High School- 1 cottage
West Sound Skills Center- 1 cottage
Kitsap United Way- 1 cottage
Kitsap Habitat For Humanity- 1 cottage
Port Orchard Lowes- workers will help build
Silverdale Target- workers will help build

We have received calls from churches in Bremerton and Bainbridge Is. in order to partner with this project! On Sunday afternoon several Ekklesia men positioned the #2 cottage on a trailer and parked it for display on Bay St. in downtown Port Orchard. Mayor Rob Putannsuu had requested we place it there to advertise this new project to help the homeless.  The picture below was taken by city councilman Fred Chang who posted it on the Port Orchard Facebook page.
Ekklesia guys- Tim Blair, Rick Bell and Gene Cartwright in front of #2 cottage
We also positioned the #3 cottage  directly in front of the "That One Place" restaurant to advertise the new village and our need for support.
