This is a yearlong  program designed to equip participants with the skills and information they need to make a positive impact on local community and economic development. Class members in the Community Leadership Development program learn valuable skills in the areas of teamwork, community assessment and planning, economic development and tourism, and community renewal.

Next New Officials Institute March 15th in Lawton
On March 15th in Lawton, OML will host a New Officials Institute at the Great Plains Technology Center. Throughout the year OML provides an intensive educational program specifically tailored for newly elected and appointed officials as well as experienced officials who want to keep up-to-date on municipal issues.

The NOI teaches the statutorily required topics such as Municipal Budget Requirements, the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act, the Oklahoma Open Records Act, Ethics, Procedures for Conducting Meetings, Conflict of Interest, and Purchasing Procedures

State law requires each person elected for the first time to a position of a municipality on or after January 1, 2005, OR appointed for the first time on or after July 1, 2006, to attend an institute for municipal officials. The statute is codified at Title 11 O.S., Section 8-114.   For future dates or more information, see the  NOI page on our website .

You don't have to be newly elected to attend. Everyone is welcome! If you have any questions, please contact  Sarah Lingenfelter at OML.
