COWBOY AND BLUEGRASS SUNDAY
~ One Service Only at 10:30 am ~

Russell's Ritings,

There is a wonderful story about the great scientist Albert Einstein.  Einstein was probably the most brilliant man ever to have lived.  The story goes that he was taking a train out of New York City.  The conductor was passing through the railcar punching tickets when he came to Dr. Einstein.  The great scientist was frantically searching through his coat, pants, and vest pockets for his ticket.  The conductor said, "Don't worry, Dr. Einstein, I trust you."  On his way back up the car the conductor again passed by Dr. Einstein who was this time searching through his briefcase.  The conductor said, "Don't worry, Dr. Einstein, I trust you."  The third time the conductor made his way through the car Dr. Einstein was down on his hands and knees searching under not just his seat but the seats around him.

The conductor again said,  "Don't worry, Dr. Einstein, I trust you."  Einstein looked up and replied, "Thank you, sir, for your trust.  However, it's not an issue of trust.  It's an issue of direction.  I don't know where I'm going."

Do you know where you are going?  I am going to be at COWBOY SUNDAY  this Sunday at 10:30.  I can't wait for the music, the children dancing, the decorations, the music, the chuck wagon lunch, the pony rides, and did I mention the music!  It's going to be a great day, and we owe a debt to many who have worked and planned and worked some more.  However, we couldn't do this without chair George Wood, Mr. Detail himself.  George has done a marvelous job of pulling everything together.  Thanks, George.

So, partner, put on your cowboy duds and come on out.  Bring a friend and introduce them to UMCE.  My sermon this Sunday is "Take Dead Aim" (MT 6:33).

REMEMBER - ONE SERVICE ONLY AT 10:30

"and the folks are friendly"

Russell

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR JIM GOBEL

The United Methodist Church of Evergreen
Saturday, June 17 at 2:00 pm

We are honored to celebrate Jim's life with the Gobel family on this very special Saturday in June.

Before moving to Texas Jim and Sharon were active members at UMCE. Sharon was instrumental in starting The Great Escape childcare in our building and Jim was part of the team of three (Jim, Pem Dunn and Chris Hahn) who created the beautiful stained glass windows in our church Sanctuary.

Please plan on joining our church family for this very special service.

We had a wonderful week this past week at the Maker Fun Factory Vacation Bible School! The children  became hands-on inventors who discovered they're lovingly crafted by God. Thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers who helped out, thanks to the kids for a great week of learning and fun, and thanks to Pastor Russell for letting the kids take over the Sanctuary on Sunday!
