"Do Higher Minimum Wages Benefit Health?
Evidence from the UK"
By: Otto Lenhart, Ph.D.
While the majority of existing research on minimum wages focuses on the effects on employment outcomes, researchers have started examining potential effects on health-related outcomes in recent years. The analysis provided in this article confirms that health behaviors, financial stress and leisure expenditures can potentially explain the observed improvement in health. As part of our ongoing effort to promote JPAM articles to the APPAM membership and the public policy field at large, we have asked the author to answer a few questions. See the author's interview responses here.
