Dear Parents,

This Sunday, June 4th, the Church celebrates the Feast of Pentecost. The word Pentecost is Greek and it means "50th day." Fifty days after Easter Sunday, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles.

When the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, they were granted the  gifts of the Holy Spirit. Those gifts helped them to fulfill their mission to preach the Gospel to all nations. For us, too, those gifts-granted when we are filled with  sanctifying grace, the life of God in our souls-help us to live a Christian life.

Let us remember to use the gifts that the Holy Spirit has given to us in our daily lives and share those gifts with those around us.

Quote from Pope Francis:

" Listen to the Holy Spirit because he is giving people the good news that God loves them and can renew, purify and transform their lives."

Faithfully yours,

Miss Giaquinto

Feast of Corpus Christi:                                                asst-wooden-crosses.jpg

On Sunday, June 18th, the Church celebrates the
Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, which is a commemoration of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

From the early days of the Church the faithful believed in this reality and today we express the same belief when we proclaim, before we receive the Holy Eucharist, at each Mass, "Amen!"

To celebrate this special day in the history of the Church, the tradition of processing was brought to our parish families and children here at St. Catherine's by Fr. Marcello.

The procession for our community will take place on Sunday, June 18th after the noon Mass.  The children who have received First Holy Communion this year are invited to participate in the procession immediately behind Father and the Holy Eucharist.

If your child is interested in participating please RSVP to Louise Stewart at:

LouiseStewart@stcatherinetrumbull.com and further instructions will be sent.
