Beautiful Stations of the Cross are now hanging in Advent Church.

Lovely needle point Stations of the Cross, made by the Women of Advent who have the gift of needle point, are now hanging in our church sanctuary.

On Wednesday, March 21 at 5:30 P.M. in Hovde Hall, Fr. Mark+ will give a presentation on praying the Stations of the Cross as a part of Advent's Lenten program.

This project took over 3 years to complete.  I purposely did not show photo's of Advent's magnificent new "Stations of the Cross" in hopes that you will come to Church this Sunday and see them in person.

LABYRINTH?
What is a LABYRINTH?
Why might I want to 'walk' a LABYRINTH?

Mark your calendar for March 21, 2018 at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Lillian.     As part of the 2018 Lenten program, a 30+ ft  floor model of the famous stone labyrinth built around 1200AD at Notre Dame de Chartres in Chartres, France  will be set up in the church.  This particular labyrinth design signified the pilgrimage to Jerusalem during this period. There is no charge for this event and we hope the community will enjoy it.

Our guest speaker will be Dr. Marie-Therese Champagne , Associate Professor of History at the University of West Florida in Pensacola.  On March 21st she will teach about the spiritual and secular history of these structures and how they were/are used as spiritual, meditative, or relaxation tools.

You may choose to walk the labyrinth after the lecture or during the following two days of planned display..

Dr. Champagne teaches European history in the areas of ancient Rome, the Middle Ages, the Vikings, Women in the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the Reformation.  She is a native of New Orleans and completed her doctorate at LSU in 2005.

Dr. Champagne has presented this same labyrinth event at UWF four times since joining faculty in 2008.

A bit of humor from Rachael

I am a first-grade teacher and a new empty-nester. One night I was trying out an art project: making a person with simple materials.

I took a coat hanger, attached a paper-plate face, put a shirt on the hanger, and stuffed it. Then I set it on the couch to see how it looked.

Later that evening, my son walked through the door, home for a surprise visit. Taking one look at my coat-hanger friend sitting on the couch, he said, "Mom, it's not THAT bad, is it?"
