Varsity Soccer Earns Three-Seed in NCS Playoffs, Hosts Berkeley at DLS on Wednesday Night

The Carondelet soccer team will host Berkeley in the opening round of the 2018 North Coast Section/Les Schwab Tires Division I Girls Soccer Championships. The game will be played on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at De La Salle High School, with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Cougars (14-5-4) enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed, after posting a third place finish in the East Bay Athletic League.  Berkeley enters the NCS Division I Championships with a 5-7-9 overall record, after posting a 3-1-6 mark in the West Alameda County - Foothill League.

Ticket prices for the first round NCS Division I Girls Soccer Playoff games are $10.00 for general admission and $6.00 for seniors, children, and students, with a valid student body card.

Basketball Senior Night on Tuesday

Before the start of the Carondelet varsity basketball game against California High School on Tuesday night, the school will recognize seniors Maaeva Dwiggins (left) and Leah Walton (right), who will be playing their final regular season home game for the Cougars.

Maaeva and Leah have been four-year varsity letter winners, and helped the Cougars capture three EBAL titles and a perfect 49-0 league record the past four seasons. Also, they helped Carondelet capture back-to-back NCS Championships (2016 & 2017), while helping the team to three straight state playoff appearances, including open division selections that last two years.
Natalie Coughlin Aquatics Center Opens

The world-class Natalie Coughlin Aquatics Center is now in use by our Cougar swimming and diving teams! The swimming team marked the start of a new era for Carondelet student-athletes with a celebratory "First Splash" on Tuesday, February 6, followed by the first practice of the season. The diving team will jump in the water for the first time on Monday, Feb. 12. For more details about the opening of the swimming pool, CLICK HERE
Spring Sport Parent Meetings
Carondelet High School will host parent meetings for diving, softball and lacrosse this week. The track and field parent meeting will be held on Monday, Feb. 26. Please see the full schedule of parent meetings listed below.

Parents of all students that are participating in spring sports are required to attend their team's parent meeting, as important information for the season will be distributed. Should you have any questions regarding the parent meetings, please contact the athletics office at 925-636-5353 x168.

Online Apparel Store Open Until Feb. 22
For Spring sport student-athletes and parents that want to purchase apparel for the upcoming season, the Carondelet online store will be open until Feb. 22.

Five Cougars Sign Commitment Letters
Last week, Carondelet High School held an assembly to announce the college commitments for the 2018-19 school year, for five of its student-athletes. During the NCAA February signing period, Amelia Clute (rowing) signed with Cornell, Devin Lozano (soccer) signed with Cal, Makenzie Miller (softball) signed with Colorado State, Cassidy Tshimbalanga (soccer) committed to USC, and Abbigale Young (lacrosse) signed with the U.S. Naval Academy.


Last Week In Carondelet Sports
  • In two games against East Bay Athletic League opponents, the Carondelet varsity soccer team posted a 1-1 record last week. 
  • The Cougars opened the week with a 2-1 loss at Amador Valley, before closing out the regular season with a 2-0 home win over California High School.  
  • After finishing the EBAL schedule with a 6-4-3 record and a third place league finish, the Cougars earned the three-seed in the 2018 NCS/Les Schwab Tires Division I Girls Soccer Championship. 
  • The Cougars have an overall record of 14-5-4, and will host Berkeley on Wednesday, with kick-off scheduled for 5 pm at De La Salle High School.  
JV Soccer
  • In their last two games of the regular season, the Carondelet junior varsity team posted a 1-0 victory at Amador Valley on Tuesday, before playing California to a 1-1 draw on Thursday, in the final game of the 2017-18 season. 
  • Following the 1-0-1 record last week, the Cougars finished the season with an 8-2-7 overall record, while posting a 5-2-6 mark against EBAL opponents. 
Freshman Soccer
  • The Carondelet frosh/soph soccer team played two games during the last week of the season, posting an 0-1-1 record against Amador Valley and California. 
  • The Cougars fell to Amador Valley 3-0 on Wednesday, before playing Cal to a 1-1 draw in the final game of the season on Friday. 
  • Carondelet finished the 2017-18 season with a 5-7-2 overall record, with a 3-6-2 mark against EBAL teams.

Stephanie Neys '18
Varsity Soccer

Stephanie Neys has played a major part in the success of the Carondelet varsity soccer team this season. She continually shuts down her opponents and plays some real quality minutes. Stephanie helped the Cougars post a 2-0 win last week against Cal High, winning all 50/50 balls and playing fantastic defense. We are excited to see what she continues to bring as we start this NCS playoff race.

Junior Varsity Soccer


Hannah Alves has been solid in the goal for the junior varsity soccer team all season. She has been crucial to the team's success, as she has been making great saves as a keeper. Her ability to read the ball and her positive attitude makes her a key player on the field. Keep up the hard work!
