GLOBAL WAVE OF PRAYER
Thy Kingdom Come

The Episcopal Church has joined the worldwide Anglican Communion in Thy Kingdom Come, a campaign initiated by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby calling for prayer by individuals, congregations and families.

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension Day (May 25) and Pentecost (June 4) 'to align ourselves with the love of God, for the transformation of ourselves and the world" in the words of Archbishop Justin. Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Michael Curry offers the Thy Kingdom Come video messages at http://episcopaldigitalnetwork.com/ens/2017/05/24/presiding-bishops-video-leads-worldwide-prayer-campaign-thy-kingdom-come/

CONCERTS ON THE HILL

Dear Friends,

The call to prayer initiative of the Archbishop of Canterbury,  'Thy Kingdom Come', begins today. I offer you a prayer from the brothers of the Society of St. John the Evangelist, who are supporting this global call to prayer:

To Jesus
God Among Us, you have promised to be with us always. Be with me today in all I think and do and say and teach me to follow your law of love, so that like Jesus I can learn to love you with all my mind and heart and soul, and my neighbor as myself. Amen.
As Joan Chittister writes in her book 'The Breath of The Soul', 'The purpose of prayer is not prayer.  The purpose of prayer is to come to love God as much as possible with all the insights into the nature and presence of God this world allows.'   May we know the healing presence of God, and God's transformation in our world, in our lives and in our hearts.

Blessings,
Anne
