Making It In Crafts III | Through Aug. 27 | This exhibition features 140 works by 51 prominent professional craft artists (clay, glass, metal, wood-working and fiber), from 25 states plus Canada and Australia. These artists make their livings by creating and selling fine-art crafts. Many are juried participants in the most prestigious art shows in the U.S. Guest curator Jim Sondgeroth has selected and invited each artist. This unique exhibit expands on the first two Making It In Crafts exhibits shown at the Art Museum in 2011 and 2014.

Wonderful Women: From the Permanent Collection | June 23-Nov. 5 | This exhibit features women artists whose work is in the Art Museum's permanent collection. Spanning over 100 years, works by these women show their creative versatility from 1890s pottery by our founder, Laura Ann Fry, to contemporary work by many living artists in our community. The ArtSmart: Indiana team has researched each artist and many of them will have their stories published on a panel beside their piece.

Dennis Wischmeier: Changing Seasons | June 23-Sept. 24 | When Dennis Wischmeier sees something that touches him, he wants to capture that moment, relive it and share what he saw or felt with others. He is a registered architect by profession. For his final thesis at the Ball State College of Architecture and Planning in 1978, he designed a new facility on the Wabash River for the Lafayette Art Association (now the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette). His plans will be exhibited with his paintings.

Adirondack Allure: Plein Air Paintings by Ron Burgess and Rick Wilson | Through June 4. Burgess and Wilson often paint outside together. Burgess is a Lafayette native who teaches at the Art Museum. Wilson is a native of Edinburgh, Indiana.
Art of the Endowment | Through June 4 | This exhibit focuses on the power of endowment and features permanent collection works purchased by the Art Museum with funds provided by the Connie F. and Richard E. Grace Endowment Fund.

Art in the Park | The Art Museum will be at Art in the Park in Columbian Park June 6 and June 27. Kids and adults will be invited to participate in our Artist Trading Cards activity. Art in the Park runs from 6-9 p.m.

An opening reception for the
Wonderful Women: From the Permanent Collection and the Dennis Wischmeier: Changing Seasons exhibits will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, June 23. The museum's Art League will host the reception, which is open to the public.
Friday Night Live |
Singer/songwriter/guitarist Travis Kearney is the June Friday Night Live performer. His program is titled "On Ropes and Razors." The performance will be 7-8 p.m. June 30. Doors open at 6 p.m. so attendees can view the Art Museum's exhibits beforehand. Seating is limited. Admission is free thanks to sponsor Alberta Barker, Jim and Sandy Bodenmiller and Purdue Federal Credit Union.
Gallery Talk |
Jennifer McCurdy will speak from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, June 23, in the Shook Gallery on her career in art. Jennifer's work is represented in Making it in Crafts III. The talk is free and open to the public.
Teacher Workshop |
The Art Museum of Greater Lafayette will host stARTsmART, a workshop for K-12 area teachers of all disciplines. Through the workshop, led by Robert Sabol, a Purdue University professor of visual and performing arts, they will learn how to better integrate art into their lesson plans. The Art Museum participated in the first Gallery Walk of the season May 19. The museum was represented at the Henriett Group offices in the Renaissance Building where an exhibit by Bea Smith and Glenda McClatchey was opening that evening. The show runs through June 30. Hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The 2nd Century Club's annual spring tour will take a look at the art and architecture of South Bend on June 21. Club members will join Museum Executive Director

endall Smith and Sharon Theobald on this exclusive behind-the-scenes tour to the South Bend Museum of Art, Century Center and the University of Notre Dame Snite Museum of Art. After a comfortable 55-passenger motor coach ride, lunch will at the Tippecanoe Place restaurant in the historic Studebaker Mansion. Then the group will join Executive Director Susan Visser for a tour of the South Bend Museum of Art in Century Center on the St. Joseph River. That will be f
