Parents and Community Members:  We need your help to spread the word regarding PreK and Kindergarten registration.  Many families who have never had a child in school before are not aware the process begins as early as February 2018 in preparation for going to school in August 2018.  Please share the dates above with PreK and K families!
February 12-16 is CTAE Week:
Celebrating Pathways to Success
During the month of February, students, teachers, and administrators across the state join others nationwide in celebrating Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE). Monroe County Schools has designated February 12-16 as CTAE Week. Highlights of the week include daily CTAE trivia, dress for success, club representation days, and treats for students in CTAE courses.

Career, Technical and Agricultural Education prepares youth for a wide range of careers and educational opportunities. These careers may require varying levels of education-including industry-recognized credentials, postsecondary certificates, and two- and four-year degrees. Career, Technical and Agricultural Education is crucial to providing the strong workforce training needed to fill the high-demand, technical jobs.

Our CTAE courses are taught by faculty who are experts in their fields and have real world experience. Students learn how to keep pace with rapidly changing technological advances while discovering the work habits and attitudes necessary to succeed in the workplace. Students can also take advantage of our Work-Based Learning Program that enables them to gain valuable on-the-job training and network with potential employers.

The CTAE faculty includes:  Mr. Bill Waldrep and Mr. Ryan Smith-Agriculture; Ms. Racine Dorsey, Ms. Susan Little, Ms. Amy Myers, and Ms. Rosalyn Sparks-Business; Mr. D.J. Hurm-Construction; Ms. Christina Barfield-Energy/Engineering; Ms. Stephanie Carter-Healthcare Science; Mr. Bob Meacham-Robotics; Mr. Dwain Evans-Transportation; Ms. Marcy Sanders-Work-Based Learning; and Ms. Sandy Colwell-CTAE Director.

Check out this week's highlights reel including classroom activities, HES's presentation of Winnie the Pooh, professional learning for staff members, a simulation of emergency response for MP's CTAE students, JROTC students visiting at KBS, and National Signing Day highlights.  Click the link above to see students, staff, parents, and community members.
