Thank you for joining us at the train station and in the sanctuary for Ash Wednesday.

The season of Lent turns our heads and hearts towards relationships with God and relationships with each other.

On Sundays and Wednesdays, you'll experience how  God's LOVE is greater...  greater than sin, greater than fear, and greater than death.

This week, Jesus is baptized and driven into the wilderness, and we will hear how God's LOVE is greater than status Gather in God's love with us during this Lenten season,  and c heck out what else is happening this week...

Baptism of Evie & Bryn Mulder

We celebrate those preparing for baptism this season,
especially the family of Bryn and Evie Mulder, who will be baptized this Sunday.

Please keep Evie & Bryn, big sister Reyna, parents Val and Derek
and their whole family in your prayers as they commit to
caring for Bryn & Evie's life of faith as beloved children of God.

We thank God for doubling the joyful blessings in our midst!

Lent 2018 - God's Love is Greater...

Faithful Conversations kicks off this weekend. This space has been created to share your stories, hear from others, and listen for God. Connect with people on:
      • Saturdays at 3:45pm
      • Sundays at 9:45am in the sanctuary
      • Wednesdays at 7:30pm in Fellowship Hall
We will continue to meet throughout the season of Lent, and into Easter as well. Contact Pastor Joe if you have any questions.

In addition to weekend worship, each Wednesday at 6pm, we welcome you and the whole community to a light supper, followed by a time of worship and experiential learning through activities, discussions, videos, and making kits for people in need.

Join us as we take a pilgrimage to the cross with Jesus this Lenten season,
to reach a love that is greater than anything we've ever known.

Prayer for Mass Shootings
God of compassion, we pray for those who grieve, the brokenhearted, and the outraged and we pray for children and families who are injured, traumatized, and afraid, especially the community of Parkland, Florida. Show this community, and all who suffer from violence against them, that you weep alongside us, that your justice is swift and your mercy is wide, so that we can respond to every tragedy with a renewed passion for building a more just and equitable society. Amen.

We recognize that this shooting took place on Ash Wednesday, when our church enters a time of repentance during the season of Lent. It also happened on Valentine's Day, when we seek to share and express love in a multitude of ways.

Even now, God's love is still greater than the violence so many have endured, and by which all of us are impacted. As your pastors, we are here to support you, to listen to you, and to pray with you and walk with you through this trauma.

If you want to talk with us, don't hesitate. We are here for you.
If you want to scream at God for the evil in the world... do it.
If you want to call Congress today... do it.
If you need to hug your babies extra tight... do it.
If you want to join a group like Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense... do it.
If you've seen someone struggling, but you don't know the best time to reach out to them, now is the right time... do it.
If you need to turn off the news for a while... do it.
If you feel stuck and need to talk it out with someone - a family member, a friend, a therapist... do it.

In love, we urge you to be gentle with yourself, be kind to others, and take comfort in knowing that grace and God's promise of resurrection are true.

Ministry Spotlight: Altar Guild

HELP US FEED THE CHURCH
These are simple but holy service opportunities.

Traditional Worship Service: Remove communion elements from the altar, wash the vessels and store them in the sacristy after worship.

Contemporary Worship Service:
Prepare the altar with communion elements before worship. Remove the communion elements after worship, wash the vessels, and store them in the cabinet behind the puppet stage.

Come join us! If you want more details, or have any questions, please call Jean Reichenbach at 773-774-8291 or email her at [email protected].

What happened to my offering envelopes?

For those of you who use offering envelopes, we are currently in the process of switching offering envelope companies.  The old company did not send out the Feb/March envelopes and the new company will start in April.  If you have extra envelopes at home, use them.  It doesn't matter that the date is not current.  If you need envelopes, there will be a stack in the Gathering Space and on the table and cupboard in Fellowship Hall.

Thank you for your patience and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.  The church will save approximately 40% going with the new company.
