Earlier this spring, the local Bolingbrook Michael's Craft Store held a book drive to benefit the Bolingbrook Hospital Foundation. Customers had the opportunity at check out to purchase a children's book to be donated to the Foundation and a stunning total of 3,400 books were collected!
An estimated 1,000 books were donated forward to the Valley View School District in Bolingbrook. 900 were provided to the AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center Bolingbrook's Emergency Department. Over 300 were given to Volunteer Services at the Bolingbrook location. And another 200 were provided to Women & Children's Services in Bolingbrook. We also sent each of our sister hospitals - LaGrange, Hinsdale and Glen Oaks- 200 books each.
These books will be distributed free to children visiting our hospitals to help alleviate the stress that often accompanies a visit to the hospital. These books have something for all ages - children's novels, ABC books, puzzle books, story books and trivia books.
Thank you to the Michael's Craft Store in Bolingbrook for this generous program that allows us to bring a simple smile to the children in our community, whether they are at school or find themselves needing care in our local hospitals.
