Lights, Camera, Action!

 

May was a busy month, especially for ADAO's extensive YouTube video library, an ever-growing trove of asbestos awareness and education resources.

 

During our 13th International Asbestos Awareness and Prevention Conference in April, we filmed each and every illuminating presentation and event. Team ADAO worked around the clock all month to get these videos available online - take a minute to check out all of the new content available to you here. 

 

We also launched an exciting new public service announcement (PSA) video, "Asbestos: The Killer You Can't See," which is available in six languages - English, Spanish, Russian, Hindi, Portuguese and French. These videos will bring lifesaving asbestos education to vulnerable populations across the world. 

And speaking of action, you'll find a number of ways you can support ADAO and our goals in this newsletter. We've launched a petition calling for an exemption-free asbestos ban that you can sign, as well  a month-long "surgiversary" donation drive in honor of the second anniversary of Mesothelioma Warrior Annamarie Kearns' PD surgery .

We wrapped up the month with another important trip to DC where we met with high-level EPA administrators. There is an important legislative deadline in our push for an absolute asbestos ban under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), which was reformed in 2016 to close loopholes that have prevented the EPA from banning asbestos for the past 40 years. At this meeting, we ensured the EPA has all of the information they need to assess the current and continued risk posed by asbestos.
