Summer Camp Registration Begins March 1
This summer, Deerfield Township's youngest residents will go on medieval adventures, take trips to an island of treasure or wander in the tracks of dinosaurs ... and still be home in time for dinner. These amazing journeys are all part of the township's Summer Camp schedule, and registration opens in just two weeks.
Last summer, 575 children participated in a Deerfield summer camp, operated by the township's Parks and Recreation Department. New this year, students entering first through fifth grades can test their sleuthing skills as part of the Spy Central camp. And the very popular Doll Camps, previously offered just for those in grades three to five, will be expanded to include first and second graders, too.
Camps are designed around weekly themes and organized by age group, starting with those entering kindergarten up through eighth grade. All Deerfield Summer Camps include active, outdoor activities in addition to games, art projects and more.
Registration opens Thursday, March 1, for township residents and Sunday, April 1, for non-residents. Each camp section is limited in size, so early registration is strongly recommended.
If you have a recent high school graduate or college student seeking a great summer job, we're also actively hiring counselors to join our camp team! Camp counselors must be at least 18 years of age, have great customer service skills and enjoy working outdoors with children. To apply, check out our website for details and an application.

Deerfield staff are currently in the beginning phase of creating a Parks Master Plan to guide the development of future policies and programming for the six parks and more than 450 acres of trails and recreational facilities maintained by the township. This planning reflects the township's strong commitment to providing high quality recreational activities for the entire Deerfield community.
The Parks Master Plan will contain a comprehensive inventory of the township's parks, trails and open spaces and evaluate the health and vibrancy of the parks, recreation programs and facilities. Additionally, staff will analyze current and projected community recreation needs. A significant part of the planning process will include opportunities for residents to share their feedback about what's important to them.
The township is currently accepting requests for qualifications from firms interested in assisting with this process. More information is available on our website.

We are currently seeking submissions about inspiring Deerfield residents at least 16 years of age and older who are doing good work, performing good deeds and generally making a difference in our community and surrounding areas. Play Your Part to Keep Deerfield Safe
We're proud that Deerfield is a community in which our residents, businesses and visitors feel safe. But we all play an important role in ensuring that remains true now and in the future. Here are a few tips and reminders from our Deerfield deputies:
- Colder weather can bring a rash of automobile break-ins as people warm up their cars, sometimes leaving them running and unlocked in front of their homes. Remember, Ohio law forbids owners from leaving a running vehicle unattended.
- Don't make it easy for a thief to steal your valuables! Always lock your home and car at night, and refrain from leaving any packages visible in your car at all times.
- If you see suspicious activity, call 911 immediately. While 911 services are reserved for emergencies, you should never fear calling 911 if you have doubts or find yourself in a situation that makes you uncomfortable.
