Fond farewell
Sunday, May 28, was the last service for Pastor Ryan Beffrey at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Cleveland Heights, OH. This photo of Pastor Beffrey and the congregation was taken after the service.

Historic Celebration
On May 27, 1933 - 84 years ago - the current church building of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Detroit, MI, was dedicated with thousands present for the various services. Following their Golden Anniversary Services in 1932, the first church was demolished and building began on the present, 600-seat, neo-Gothic stone edifice. Stone used in the building was obtained from the recently demolished Post Office/Federal Building in downtown Detroit. This article, covering the event, was published in The Detroit News.

The Luke Project 52 Clinic
By Lynne Cobb, English District Communications Coordinator

Note: This mission is located in Detroit, MI. While it is not an English District mission, it does give an opportunity for the District's churches in the metro Detroit area to become involved if they feel called to do so. Or, perhaps there is a similar ministry in your area. Please share with the District how you are caring for those in your community.

Recently, the English District was introduced to "The Luke Project 52 Clinic." The clinic is "Pro Women - Pro Hope - Pro Life." According to Rev. Brad Garrison RPh, Director, this project has been well- received in the city of Detroit. Their goal is to reduce infant mortality in the city, as it is one of the highest in the nation.

Concordia Publishing House - Summer Reading Program
Why Read Like A Lutheran?
Faith begins with the Word in the world's greatest book--the Bible. We're passionate about Christ-centered reading--reading that draws us to Jesus' story, revealing how His resurrected life eternally changes our own. Books based on the heartbeat of faith not only help us see our identity in Him but also open doors to explore new ideas, adventures, history, and more.

Here's how the program works . . .
Sign up yourself and/or your household by creating an account. If you are registering multiple family members, start by creating an account just for you.

Please share your congregation's or school's unique ministries with the rest of the District. Send pictures and stories for consideration to Lynne Cobb by Wednesday, 3:00 pm ET.

We want to see how YOUR congregation or school is "loving your neighbor as yourself."
Previous issues of the eNewlsetter, Servant to Servant, are available on the  English District website. You are encouraged to share the information from Servant to Servant with members of your congregation.
