National Newsletter - June 2017

"TTN saved my life!"

Sounds dramatic, doesn't it?  But I hear that from women in every chapter I visit.  And if they are saying it, I believe it to be true.

Think of your own journey.  What would you be doing right now if you hadn't met the terrific women in your Transition Peer Group or didn't learn about what stage of transition you are in and how to make the most of it?

Is your life richer because of the connections you have made through your interest in reading or theater? I know you are gratified by the volunteer work you do as a member of a TTN committee or a group that supports others in your local community.

We all have our individual stories and every one of them is important.  But think about all the women who have never heard of TTN.  Don't they deserve a chance to meet you?

We have kicked off our "Let's Go. Let's Grow!" membership campaign.  Our goal is to grow our membership by 10% by year end.  We need everyone, all 2,300 of you, to get the word out to other women who we know could benefit from being part of our community.

Together let's make TTN the WORST kept secret in the country!

My Travel Diary, May 2017 North/Central New Jersey and Minneapolis!

There's nothing more inspiring than a room full of TTN women connecting with each other and learning together.

Our North/Central New Jersey Chapter had the "get" of the season when Ashton Applewhite was the featured speaker at the May 20 event at the Springfield Library. Ashton is the foremost authority on Ageism (and yes, we're all guilty of this particular "-ism"!)
Chapter Chairs Pam Brownstein and Ann Freedman with Ashton Applewhite.
Ashton, who was named 2016 Influencer of the Year by Next Avenue had just returned from delivering a highly successful TED Talk (which we can't wait to see on YouTube!) where she received a standing ovation.

Kim Fischer, Susan Collins, Jill Goski in beautiful Minneapol
Meanwhile, out in the middle of this beautiful country of ours, I was privileged to spent quality time with some wonderful Minnesotans.  Chapter-in-Formation Founders Kim Fischer and Jill Goski gathered members and soon-to-be members at the beautiful home of Karen Carr.  While we enjoyed some wonderful home-cooked dishes, we dreamed of the day with Minneapolis would be a full chapter of TTN.  It won't be long now.  These women were inspired, and inspiring!

What do these very different areas of the country have in common?  Women in Transition!  Wherever we go, we meet women who need what we offer - community, learning, growth, gratification in giving to others.

Thank you for all you do!
Let's Go! Let's Grow!

The National Marketing Committee has been hard at work creating a brilliant Idea Kit to help our chapters achieve the overall goal of a 10% net increase in membership by year-end.

That's 228 new women in your life and mine.

Why are we doing this?  Because there are so many women out there who need TTN. This is about having more women in transition peer groups, starting special interest groups, joining committees and volunteering to help make your chapter great.  It's about building your network.

If you bring in a new member between now and the end of the year (sooner is better!) you will receive this special gift - a TTN Woman Beauty Essentials kit.  When you read what these beauty essentials are, you will recognize yourself and all the other women in TTN!
Calling All Chicagoans

On Tuesday, June 20, we are hosting a very special event in downtown Chicago.   Shifting Gears: Three Invigorating Roads to Your Next Career is the topic.   Nancy Gendimenico will moderate our distinguished panel of experts who will talk about finding a job, starting a business and going back to school.

Click here for more information on this event and make sure to share it with anyone you know in Chicago.  We're expecting a great turn-out for this excellent program.
