Most of us brush our teeth without a second thought, make or get our daily coffee, drive to work without the worry of what the weather will be like, and end the day in the comfort of our own homes - but for many in Indiana, this is not the reality.
In 2016 in Marion County alone, 1,619 individuals were identified as experiencing homelessness based on a point-in-time count.
Based on national research, estimates suggest that the number
who
experience homeless-ness at some point during the year is 3 to 5 times the number counted during a point-in-time count. Read more on this HERE.
At the 2017 Annual Conference, the INUMC laity team estimated over 800 backpacks filled with supplies for the homeless were received by our UM congregations, to be distributed throughout the community.
So can a toothbrush transform a life? Maybe, maybe not - but we know the love of Christ can transform the world.
