A Note from Mrs. Ryan
Dear Parents,

During Ash Wednesday Mass this morning Fr. Denis reminded us all that this is the time of year when we focus on becoming better Christians and Catholics through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. The scripture during the season of Lent is particularly rich and Fr. Denis provides an excellent homily every Sunday. It is a great time of year to commit yourself to attending Sunday Mass more regularly.

Students in First through Eighth Grade are bringing home mid-term progress reports today.  Although this is not a report card it does give you an indication of how your child is doing and if there is improvement needed in academics, effort or conduct.

You may remember that, for this year only, we changed from a trimester to a semester system. Since the spring semester is a long one, we plan to issue a second progress report in April.  In addition to the progress reports, teachers send home weekly packets of corrected assignments and assessments for each child.  Taking the time to peruse these packets weekly is a great way to follow what your child is learning in school.  As always, we highly encourage you to contact your child's teacher if you have questions about his or her progress.

Sincerely,
Kathy Ryan

TUTORIAL (Tue - Thu)
Tutorial is offered to students in grades 3-8 on Tue., Wed., and Thur., after school from 2:50-3:15 pm. This is a great opportunity for your child to get extra help with school work or homework.
Supervision outside ends at 3:25 daily, so please arrive by then to pick up students who attend tutorial.
CLASSROOM SUPPLIES Post Fire
Many of the items that your child was asked to provide to their classroom at the beginning of the school year were damaged or had to be destroyed after the water damage inside the school. We need your help to begin replacing some of those items.
Teachers are in desperate need of the following:
  • BOXES OF KLEENEX - if each child could bring 1 box
  • Pencils, tip erasers, expo markers, glue sticks - good time to replenish
Please have your child take directly to their classrooms, not to the school office.
Jr. High teachers may have other items that they may ask their students to bring in.

AFTER SCHOOL DISMISSAL
We have requested many times and must again remind our parents to please follow these guidelines for after-school dismissal.
  • Cardinal Newman students dismiss at 2:20pm. It is important that St. Rose parents, grandparents, or others who are picking up St. Rose students, are not lined up in the parking lot before 2:40pm. PLEASE do not block or impede the flow of CN dismissal.
  • KINDERGARTEN dismisses at 2:30. ONLY Kindergarten parents should arrive on campus at 2:30
  • PARENTS, PLEASE be sure and share this information with those who are picking up your children. The flow of traffic will be much smoother if everyone would not arrive too early on campus. Timing your arrival BETWEEN 2:50-3:15 PM is best and will flow much easier for all.
Please do not park in any numbered space on the CN or SR campus between 7AM - 2PM.
