Jewish Food Festival, Sunday, June 11, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
On Sunday, June 11 (from 11 am to 4 pm), the Federation will be staging our first ever Southern
Connecticut Jewish Food Festival, to be held in our inaugural year at Temple Israel in Westport. This is shaping up to be an amazing event, including a first-rate keynote speaker (Jeffrey Yoskowitz, co-author of The Gefilte Manifesto), wonderful cooking demonstrations, intriguing breakout sessions, a diverse exhibitor hall, an exciting children's program, and some fantastic kosher food options - from brisket to falafel. The Jewish food festival model has also proven to be a great framework for Jewish engagement, and it is our hope that a successful annual food festival can benefit all of us by providing a connection point for the unaffiliated. It is traditional to light a memorial candle on the eve of the yahrzeit at home and to recite Kaddish when lighting the yahrzeit candle. It is also a custom to make donations in memory of loved ones around the time of yahrzeit.
