An Escondido Chamber tradition since 1912, the 107th Annual Installation and Awards dinner took place on Friday night. It is an event that we look forward to, for many reasons:
  • We get to honor business leaders, organizations and volunteers for their commitment and impact on our community.
  • We get to thank our board members and ambassadors for serving and leading the chamber.
  • We get to install new leaders on the board and appoint new ambassadors.
The celebration is a culmination of a year's worth of hard work and achievements. In the case of the chamber 107 years of working for a prosperous economy, vibrant community and strong leadership.

Renowned Artist Stephen Fishwick
It is also an evening of hobnobbing and special entertainment. The performance by artist Stephen Fishwick, who kicked off the evening with a live painting of the Statue of Liberty, will be remembered for years!

California reformers seeking sweeping changes in the state's criminal justice system have a new target: burdensome traffic tickets.  The leading proponent of the proposal is California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye. She is working on a plan to decriminalize minor traffic infractions by having them handled in civil court instead of criminal court.  Cantil-Sakauye  told the  Los Angeles Times that it is unacceptable that people who are too poor to pay tickets or who miss court hearings related to the tickets end up in jail or are unable to get to work, wreaking havoc in their lives.
