Trailblazing Tech: Google Tests Augmented Reality (AR) Product at Woodlands Middle School

Representatives from tech giant Google recently visited  Woodlands Middle School in an effort to collect more feedback on their new Augmented Reality (AR) technology, currently under development as  Google Expeditions.

Several students on the campus had an amazing opportunity to give their feedback on the program.

Students in the Medical program had a chance to see a three-dimensional view of the kidneys, viewing the virtual organ from any angle; while math students worked out probability with the roll of some virtual dice. Click here to watch the video...

Wellington HS ESE Students Benefit from Grant for iPads
Students enrolled in Exceptional Student Education classes at Wellington Community High School have been given a new way to learn, interact and have fun while they are in the class. Thanks to a generous donation from the Jacobs Family Foundation of Wellington, the program has received iPads that allow the students to reinforce the lessons they're learning.

Using this technology, students can scan QR codes to learn more information and even use a fun game to quiz them on their skills.

The donation is just the latest that the Foundation has given to schools in Wellington. Watch the video...


Parent University: What in the World is New Math?
A concept born decades ago, "new math" is all about options, allowing students to choose a process that best suits them to solve math problems.

Surprise!  Mr. Trent Laubscher of Wellington Community High School was named last week's  #ThankATeacherPBC  Teacher of the Week!

Mr. Laubscher was nominated by one of his students, Brandon, who shared that he has a knack for helping his students find their inner greatness, even if they didn't know how to find it within themselves.

"On behalf of every student you've ever had, thank you for being the light in the darkness, and giving us your all as a mentor, leader, a teacher and a life changer," Brandon shared.

This year's topic is about an African-American scientist, inventor, scholar or educator, and their influence on the state of Florida. Three lucky winners will be selected to receive a 4-Year Florida College Plan scholarship from the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.

To enter the contest, students must write a 500-word (max) essay on the topic and submit it by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018.
