This past year, many Texans experienced great difficulty in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Here at Bridges To Life, projects were disrupted, delayed, and cancelled. However, thanks to our wonderful volunteers, donors, and staff, we persevered and experienced amazing results in 2017.
We are very proud to share the accomplishments that your service and support made possible:
- We completed 165 BTL projects in 95 prison units and alternative facilities located in 8 states and 3 foreign countries.
- We graduated over 5,600 inmate participants.
- Our cost remained extremely low at $212 per graduate.
- 730 volunteers donated over 67,000 hours valued at $1,687,000.
- 225 new volunteers participated in BTL.
- We started BTL projects in 25 new facilities.
- We reached the milestone of 39,000 total graduates!
By positively impacting the lives of incarcerated offenders, we are enhancing the safety of our communities and saving taxpayers millions of dollars. To the 730 volunteers and 659 donors who helped make this possible in 2017, THANK YOU!
With gratitude,
John

CONGRATULATIONS TO ONE OF OUR OWN
|
Please join us in congratulating BTL's
Amarillo Area Regional Coordinator Tac Buchanan, who was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to the Task Force on Academic Credit and Industry Recognition.
Incarcerated men and women in Texas prisons have the opportunity to take educational courses through the
Windham School District, one of the largest correctional education systems in the country. The Governor's task force will identify academic credit and industry recognition that will be helpful to inmates post-release. Tac's perspective, not only from his work as a Regional Coordinator for BTL, but also as a former offender himself, makes him uniquely qualified for this honor. Read more about Tac's personal story

MEET OUR NEWEST STAFF MEMBER!
|
DFW Regional Coordinator Joel Lightfoot
developed his passion for prison ministry while obtaining a bachelor's degree in Justice Systems at Truman State University, and a master's in Survey of Justice and Security from the University of Phoenix. After a successful 10-year career with AT&T, Joel turned his attention to full-time prison ministry.
Beginning as a BTL volunteer in 2016, Joel has joined BTL as our second Regional Coordinator in the expanding Dallas/Fort Worth region. Wife Naomi is also a BTL volunteer, and the couple shares their passion for Bible study, fitness, motorcycle racing, and prison ministry. Glad to have you aboard, Joel!
