SHARE YOUR VOICE. SHAPE OUR CITY.

You are invited to attend one of five public drop-in sessions on two projects: Advancing Age Friendly Edmonton and Edmonton Seniors Centres Strategy. For your convenience, the projects are hosting public engagement at the same time.

These interactive drop-in sessions will provide the public a chance to learn about the projects, ask questions, identify priorities and validate next steps. Your input will help determine how the City of Edmonton is addressing age friendly priorities and supporting healthy ageing in Edmonton.

All the events are drop-in and refreshments will be provided. All ages are welcome - because we are all getting older and a city that is friendly for seniors is a city that is friendly for all!

PROMOTE YOUR SENIORS PROGRAMMING

The Edmonton Seniors Coordinating Council is accepting submissions for the Recreation and Wellness Directory for Older Adults. If your organization offers group programs, activities and events for adults 55+ in the Edmonton area, we want to know about them!

There is no charge to include your information in this annual publication. More than 12,000 copies will be distributed this year, so your organization will get a lot of exposure for your programming.

Review last year's edition of the Recreation and Wellness Directory for Older Adults to get an idea of the types of activities included and contact Janelle at [email protected] or 780-423-5635 ext. 1 to get a submission form. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2017.

Organizations are also welcome to request free print copies of the directory. Let us know how many copies you would like by June 30, 2017. We expect to make deliveries at the end of August.

CROWDFUNDING 101
Firespring.org

Crowdfunding has quickly become a new tool in the fundraising toolbox. It allows nonprofits to leverage their networks to raise more money, faster, from a larger audience and is changing the face of nonprofit fundraising as donors welcome a more engaged approached to giving. Forbes reported that 30% of the $5 billion crowdfunded went to social causes, and this trend will continue to rise. This webinar will walk you through the lifecycle of a campaign, from creation through appreciation, emphasizing how to engage new audiences. You'll discover:
  • Why crowdfunding is a must-do for your nonprofit.
  • How to incorporate crowdfunding into your existing fundraising mix.
  • What role strangers play in crowdfunding.
  • What types of campaigns are most effective.
  • The power of crowdfunding beyond increased revenue.
  • Concrete steps you can implement immediately.

  • Highlight the prevalence of workplace violence
  • Review the Individual Client Risk Assessment Tool
  • Explain the five steps in developing a prevention program

DELIVERY DRIVER

Make a difference and get paid. It's not every day a casual job comes along that lets you make a difference to the community and pays you for the privilege. Anthony at Your Service employs about 15 men and women with intellectual disabilities who provide customized deliveries. But now, we've got a big job and our delivery teams need some help.

We are looking for reliable, punctual people to fill slots at breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturdays and Sundays. You will be working alone. You will need your own vehicle, something big enough to deliver 3 to 4 insulated containers of meals (each container is 2 feet long, 2 feet high and 1.5 feet wide). Deliveries need to be picked up in the northwest part of the city and delivered to a social agency downtown. Deliveries for breakfast will be completed by 7:30 a.m. lunch deliveries by 11:30 a.m., and dinner deliveries by 4:30 p.m.

If you are interested in all or some of these deliveries, or in being a substitute driver during the week, contact Deborah Barrett by June 9 at:
