Maryland State Police Go Digital with Safety Inspection Suite
Creating government efficiencies, cross-agency collaboration, enhancing Maryland's business friendly climate and citizen safety are just a few of the Maryland Safety Inspection Suites (MSIS) objectives.
This channel allows 1,600 stations statewide to electronically renew their station inspection licenses, conduct real-time vehicle safety inspections, as well as allow inspectors to register for mechanic exams 24 hours per day, seven days a week. 85% of Maryland inspection stations have registered to use this optional service.

Each year, over 600,000 vehicle safety inspections are conducted in Maryland a
nd 90% of those inspections conducted electronically using MSIS. This contributes to the states
strategic goal of reducing paper processing and reduces the amount of data entry and foot traffic for the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA).
The Mar
yland State Police and Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration partnered together in 2016 to help streamline the Maryland State Inspection Mechanics testing program. This partnership offers new conveniences to allow inspectors to enroll and take the exam at MVA locations around the state, providing more convenience to the inspector.
Maryland Safety Inspection Suite is managed through a collaborative public/private partnership between the Maryland Department of Information Technology, the Maryland State Police, the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration and NIC Maryland.
