Peony Festival
See what's blooming at the 13th annual Oshawa Peony Festival on June 10 and 11. Enjoy more than 300 types of peonies in the gardens and Children's Arena at the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens.
Artisans, food, live music, and gardening seminars
are just a few of the highlights to take in this year.
The festival celebrates its fifth consecutive year as one of Ontario's Top 100 Events and Festivals. Admission is free.

All aboard!
Hop aboard the York-Durham Heritage Railway this month for some summer fun. On Father's Day, dads ride for half price when accompanied by a child!
Enjoy a ride in a heritage coach from the 1950s or
the doors open baggage car. Trips are available on June 4, 11, and 18 departing from Uxbridge Station at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and from Stouffville at noon. Tickets can be booked online at www.ydhr.ca.
On June 25, the trip includes a
Passenger Appreciation BBQ. Enjoy a hamburger or hot dog, compliments of the York-Durham Heritage Railway, at the Uxbridge station from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Check out the first of three events in the Overdrive Race and Relay Series on June 10. This road bike endurance race features six-hour and 12-hour rides, travelling the grand prix circuit at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Riders can race in solo or relay teams of two, four or eight.

Scugog Summer Jam
Are you ready to rock out? The
Scugog Summer Jam
music festival takes over the Port Perry Fairgrounds, from June 30 to July 2. Celebrate Canada's birthday in style as Scugog welcomes a great lineup of rock and country acts, including:
June 30 - Big Wreck with special guests The Pick Brothers Band and The Bomb.
July 1 - Juno nominee Aaron Pritchett with special guests Brooklyn Roebuck and Marshall Dane.
July 2 - Local, live entertainment and special events.
Fans will enjoy visiting vendor booths, food trucks and the Waterloo Brewing Company before joining fellow concert goers under the special event canopy to see their favourite artists.

Film Durham's new
promotional video puts the spotlight on the region's film-making industry with its unique locations, creative cinematography and filmmaker interviews. This sizzle reel proudly focuses on Durham as a key player in all aspects of Ontario's film and television industry.
With its choice settings and close proximity to Toronto - the second largest production centre in North America - film production activity in Durham has been growing steadily, increasing in value from $19.7 million (2012) to $29.8 million (2015). Due to the growing need for diverse settings, as well as a decrease in the availability of film locations in Toronto, the region provides location managers with a vast number of ideal sites for filming.
This video was created in collaboration with Central Counties Tourism and Durham Region's Economic Development and Tourism division. It will be used to market Durham's existing natural and cultural heritage assets, as well as local film talent, to grow film production in the region and enhance film tourism.

Durham Region International Film Festival (DRIFF)
film submission deadlines have been extended
To meet filmmakers demand, the regular deadline for DRIFF film submissions has been extended to June 15 and the late deadline to June 30.
DRIFF celebrates interesting films from around the world. The festival's focus provides a platform for filmmakers to showcase your creative work, excite audiences and receive recognition for excellence in the arts. Features, shorts, documentaries, animation, comedies and student film projects are all invited for submission.
