TRACKING THE PATH TO A ROBUST MARKET
Sustainable CUNY's Smart DG Hub program has launched an online Roadmap Tracker,  to accompany the original NYC Resilient PV Roadmap report that was released in March of this year.  The tracker is designed to provide ongoing status updates for each of the identified recommendations outlined in the Solar+Storage Roadmap.

This is a valuable tool for the public and policy-makers that enables them to follow (and join in) progress as the market develops, via a central information storehouse.  Updates will be posted quarterly along with links to new tools and resources as these become available.

Also, new this year, join a conversation at the summit and help identify solutions and key action  that can help advance solar and solar+storage. See the range of topics you can participate in and the stellar facilitators on the 'Join a Conversation' selection on NY Solar+Storage Summit site

NEW RESOURCES FOR MUNICIPALITIES
The NY-SUN PV Training Network (PVTN) recently released the Protecting Solar Access Fact Sheet. The fact sheet presents zoning and land use tools for communities interested in protecting solar energy access while balancing landscape preservation standards and property rights. In addition the New York Department of Agriculture and Markets recently released Guidelines for Agricultural Mitigation for Solar Energy Projects The guidelines provide recommendations related to the construction, restoration, and follow-up monitoring of solar energy projects impacting agricultural land.
FDNY/CUNY TEAM TACKLE STORAGE PROTOCOL
Sustainable CUNY is working on a comprehensive NYSERDA initiative to reduce the soft costs of energy storage as part of a larger effort combining the work of NY-BEST, Cadmus Group, and ERS, Inc.  CUNY's work in partnership with DNV-GL and Meister Consultants Group takes aim at the permitting and siting piece of the puzzle. The first phase of the effort is assisting 'Authorities Having Jurisdiction' (AHJs) with developing permitting guidance, starting in NYC.  Weekly working meetings are underway consisting of FDNY code and safety staff, CUNY, DNV GL, and NYSERDA with a goal of outlining the areas of consideration that must be addressed to develop clear permitting and siting requirements for advanced energy storage systems in NYC. These requirements will address issues related to Fire Protection, Cascading Protection, Lifecycle Management, Ventilation & Exhaust, Status Communication, Signage, and Siting and provide clarity to the marketplace for what is required in order to successfully deploy an advanced storage system.
SOLAR AND REAL PROPERTY TAX PODCAST
With the advent of community solar in New York, the state has seen a substantial uptick in large scale solar energy projects that do not use all of the power that they produce on-site. In the Solar and Real Property Tax podcas t,  the PVTN team outlines Real Property Tax Law section 487, its impact and options relevant to AHJs in the state, and possible ways for AHJs to generate revenue from renewable energy projects without causing unintended harm on the overall renewable energy market in their communities.
