After watching how hard Mrs. Harrison has been working for the visiting China students, Grandparents Day, and ALL the other things she does, the middle school staff decided to
flood the ballot box with notes of appreciation for our much-loved leader. Here are some excerpts of what was written.
"Heather...You are my hero! The way you lead our middle school team with courage and grace is inspiring! You do so many things and manage to do them all with excellence! You put such great thought and intentionality into planning last week with our Chinese exchange students that it is no surprise it all went smoothly. Your hard work does not go unnoticed. Thank you for all you do!"
"If you were to look up the qualities of a godly leader, you'd see all the traits that Heather displays. First, she seeks God's direction in all areas. From her personal life to her job, she first asks for the Lord's wisdom. No decision small or large is ever made without seeking God's counsel. Secondly, as a principal, she has high expectations for herself and her staff. She takes seriously her role of providing quality professional development to her teachers. She is a good learner and a great teacher. This shows in the planning and preparation she does as she leads PD sessions and staff meetings. She studies and prepares in advance so that she can help us be our best teacher-selves. Fourthly, she is modest. A true leader must have a servant's heart and a humble mindset. Heather never takes credit for her ideas, with the exception of maybe a flash mob or music video. But that's where her creativity and humor shine. We can always tell when something is in the works, mostly because of her sheepish grin or that creative glimmer in her eye. When that happens, we just have to lace up our dancing shoes and be prepared to have a great time. Finally, in her role as principal, she has to be a peacemaker. Settling disputes between students is often a long and tedious job, but the end results are fantastic. Students in middle school trust her and respect her. They leave her office smiling and feeling better than when they walked in. The same goes for how she treats her staff. Even if we mess up (which often happens to cause more work for her), she comes alongside us to coach us and make us better. Proverbs 11:14 reminds us that "without wise leadership, a nation falls," so we are extremely grateful for Heather's leadership.""
