Author of  Las Villas of Plattekill
and Ulster County   to Visit
Ishmael "Ish" Martinez Jr.
Thursday, June 8, 7:00 pm

Join us on Thursday, June 8 at 7 pm for a presentation by Ismael "Ish" Martinez Jr., author of a new Arcadia book, "Las Villas of Plattekill and Ulster County".

The Town of Plattekill was at one time the most popular tourist destination for Hispanics in the Northeast and was often referred to in news articles as "The Spanish Alps".  From the 1920's through the 1990's thousands of people flocked to the many resorts that were collectively known as "Las Villas". They were drawn to the area by its beauty and for the opportunity to share their love for the ethnic food, music and culture with friends and family.

During his visit, Mr. Martinez will provide an overview of his book which documents the history of more than 40 Hispanic summer resorts, followed by a sale and book signing.
