  NEWS

New faces in D.C.

WallGoldfinger's D.C. sales representative group, Design Products Inc., has undergone a merger resulting in an expanded team.

Found in Western and Middle Africa from Sierra Leone to Gabon, makore veneer is also called African cherry. It comes from trees 180- to 200-feet tall with 4- to 6-foot trunk diameters. Heartwood is pink or reddish brown, sometimes with streaks of mild color variation. Makore is often a fine, straight grain wood but interlocked grain is common forming beautiful figure and curling.

Here we show fiddleback (top left), pommele rotary cut (top right), quartered figured (bottom left) and block mottled makore (bottom right).

Could diverse makore bring some life to your next project?

OUTTAKES

From the heart

Woodworkers Gary Blatz (right) and Eric Hord along with CEO John Wall volunteered their time after work on a recent Friday to help a local Girl Scout troop build pinewood derby cars for an upcoming competition. The girls learned a bit of woodworking, made some cool cars and had lots of fun. Can we get a collective, awww!
