Eight days ago, one of my readers in Naples, FL, provided some helpful feedback that challenged me to re-examine my strategy for engaging powerful leaders who are crucial to guiding humankind back to a sustainable future. She began:

"I appreciate your informative newsletter, but must admit that I skip reading them sometimes because the subject line of the email is just too negative." 

OUCH! She then added almost 400 words to further describe her feelings and insights. Now, after careful reflection, I am glad that she did. 

That's because her input helped me realize that it lessens my chances of engaging powerful leaders in the process if some of those who follow my work are turned away before reading it. So for future blogs...

I've decided to do two things:

1. Always strive to reflect some kind of "hope" or good news in the title--like I did in this BSB
2. Always include references to "hope" somewhere within the BSB itself   

Back to Leadership. Today, I am reiterating my earlier conclusions about powerful leaders and the future of humanity. Because I believe strongly that we must have their active involvement in order to bring about the needed radical changes soon enough to make a difference.

And every single person can make a difference. All can be a part of the grassroots revolution that can attract the attention of enough powerful leaders to urgently coordinate and lead the many global initiatives that will be required. 

My First Sandwich of Hope

(A Healthy Combination of Reality and Hope)

First, a little dose of reality and the need for at least a "perceived" emergency that would jolt the world's leaders in government, business, academia and religion into globally coordinated action. 

Now for the HOPE part of the sandwich

"Raising Awareness" will help us find those leaders.

The Bottom Line. Whenever I have moments of doubt regarding the daunting task on our hands, I think about the hundreds of millions of innocent children in the world. And I think about this:

I would not want for any of them (including my own grandchildren) to someday learn that there were many folks, like me, with the "big picture" understanding of  what must be done to solve our sustainability crisis--but chose not to speak up because it was not the popular thing to do.
