Thanks to our awesome crew of volunteers who showed up at 7am on Sunday May 21st, to transplant over 1,100 petunias into 225 pots for t he Main Street flower baskets. DSA partners with the Sheridan College Horticulture program, led by Chuck Holloway, to grow the petunias from seed each spring. We water, fertilize and prune the baskets May through September. Donations to support the project are always welcome.  Follow the link below to become a Main Street in Bloom Sponsor.

SUPPORT MAIN STREET IN BLOOM

On Monday, June 5, the Downtown Sheridan Association drew the first, second, and third place Passports of the aMAYzing Places Passport campaign!
Roseanne Gentry took home the first-place prize package, followed by Gail Dover and Christine Blankenfeld. All three of these ladies spent some of their free time exploring and shopping throughout our local stores collecting stamps for the competition. There was a total of 55 local businesses participating and donations from the businesses were estimated at approximately $1,000. All three were very ecstatic and thankful for the prizes. The campaign ran from May 6 through May 31, 2017.
The Historic District Promotions Committee (HDPC) sponsored this shop local campaign to thank folks for shopping local.

Take a Tour of Historic Downtown Sheridan!

The new TravelStorys historic buildings tour is now up and running! This is part of a collection of Wyoming audio tours that turns your cell phone into your own self-guided storytelling tour guide. There are eleven historic sites featured on this walking tour. State Senator Dave Kinskey, R-Sheridan, tells the history of each unique place while you view old photos of the buildings on your smart phone.
Teka Brock graciously offered her music to play in between stops while you make your way through our beautiful historic district. Upon entering each location, the TravelStorys app triggers the audio and draws you into another time and place.
The tour features the Hospital Pharmacy, WYO Theater, Kendrick Building (Best Our West), Old Town Hall & Fire Station (Beaver Creek Saloon), Mint Bar, Metz Lonabough Block (Java Moon/Over the Moon), Helvey Hotel & Cady Opera House (Sanford's), Bucket of Blood Saloon (ERA Carroll Realty) Mandel Cabin, Railroad District (Sheridan Inn), and the Elks Lodge. You must link to the app store or google play store to download the TravelStorys mobile app or go to the TravelStorys.com website.
If you like this tour, be sure to check out the Black Diamond Byway tour created by Sheridan County Land Trust. This mobile tour explores the many coal mines & communities that were established around the turn of the 19th century. While driving from Ranchester to just north of Sheridan, you will hear the authentic voices of members of towns & coal camps.
