Flood Insurance is the best way to financially protect yourself from losses caused by floods. On January 22, the President signed legislation that extends the NFIP's (National Flood Insurance Program) authorization to February 8. In the past, FEMA and Congress have never failed to honor the Flood Insurance contracts, but if Congress does not re-authorize the program, FEMA will still have authority to ensure the payment of valid claims but this would lead to FEMA having to stop selling and renewing policies for millions of properties all across the country. Especially for those who were affected by the devastating impacts of the Hurricanes from 2017, re-authorization is critical.
